Star Trends

Please note the forecasts for each of the constellations concluding this Star Trends column are done in the system of Indian astrology, called Vedic astrology, which uses the observable constellations. These are different than the signs. Even though the names of the constellations and the signs translate the same, they have different reference points in the heavens. You will notice the difference in the dates in this column compared to the typical Sun sign column that Western astrology uses. These dates reflect the constellations, which Vedic astrologers use in their forecasts. In Vedic astrology, the planets are viewed as masculine in nature and move against a feminine Sky. Star Trends April, May, June 2025 Forecast

There will be many dramatic planetary changes in the coming months as we enter the spring season of 2025 north of the equator, as Saturn, Jupiter, and the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu will all change constellations.   Shortly after the partial solar eclipse on March 29th, Saturn left the constellation of Aquarius and is now transiting the constellation of Pisces. Saturn changing constellations is an important celestial event, which only occurs every two and a half years.

As Saturn changes constellations, he will come into close alignment with one of the shadow planets - Rahu. This planetary alignment occurs approximately every eleven years. The alignment in the constellation of Pisces is more uncommon, as the last time Saturn and Rahu were aligned in Pisces was from mid-January of 1968 to early March of 1969.

Saturn is the slowest moving of the planets that reflect the light of the Sun. As an agrarian planet, Saturn represents the slow movement of time - the natural flow of time from the planting season in the spring to the fall harvest season, followed by winter. This natural rhythm gives a sense of surety and certainty that Mother Nature repeatedly provides every year. Rahu is a storm planet representing sudden and unexpected changes that upset the natural order. The combination of these two powerful planets in alignment sets into motion a series of sudden storms that erode certainty and trust in the current natural order. Yes, we all know the proverbial - when one door closes, another door opens - however, that hallway in between is fraught with anxiety and doubt.

The last Saturn/Rahu alignment in Pisces featured a tumultuous time with a series of sudden and tragic events in 1968. This included the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4th, 1968; two months later, the assassination of Robert F Kennedy on June 6th, 1968 - the favored Democratic candidate for President in the coming election. These sudden, stormy events set the stage for civil unrest and protests at the Democratic Convention in August of 1968. Televised confrontations between law enforcement and protesters only fueled the flames of doubt and uncertainty, earning this Democratic Convention the dubious distinction of being the most contentious political convention in US history.

The flash point issues of the 1968 Democratic Convention were the escalating war in Vietnam and a constitutional change lowering the voting age. There was an agenda to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 so draft-age men could vote; the irony was that men aged 18 were old enough to be drafted and die for their country but not old enough to vote!   The joint assassinations of King - who was a vocal opponent of the Vietnam War, and Kennedy - the favored Democratic Presidential nominee, doomed the Democratic party candidates and the hopes for the coming November 1968 US election, as they lost to the Republican nominee, Richard Nixon.

While civil unrest spilled into the streets at the Democratic Convention in August of 1968, simultaneously, the peace in Europe was shattered in August of 1968 as well. Warsaw Pact soldiers and tanks spilled into the streets of Prague with the sudden invasion of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. It would be another six months before Saturn and Rahu separated in March of 1969. Peace and certainty in the given American and European world order were suddenly slip-sliding away - giving rise to a new American and European world order that would emerge from the ashes like the proverbial mythical phoenix.

The duration of this Rahu/Saturn slip-sliding in Pisces will thankfully conclude in a couple of months on May 29th when Rahu exits Pisces, unlike the fourteen-month uncertainties that started in 1968. This is clearly a time of equivocation and uncertainty in both the American and European world order with the election of US President Donald Trump. The Rahu/Saturn storm in Pisces will not be in the same category as the storm of 1968-1969 - it will be much shorter in duration. However, the uncertainty and anxiety created by the storm's intensity will be similar. Please view the Star Trends forecasts for each constellation to see where the approaching Rahu/Saturn storm will influence your chart.

Once the Rahu/Saturn storm subsides and the old order gives way, Saturn helps us to gradually see the road ahead, reassuring us with increasing certainty. New roads bring innovation and new opportunities as the road and direction we are traveling become clear.   Every planetary pattern has a positive and negative side to it. The negative aspect of the Rahu/Saturn alignment is anarchy and its rebellious child chaos accompanying sudden events and change. This is the domain of Rahu. The positive aspect of the Rahu/Saturn alignment is revolution, and its reasonable child reformation, as only reason can bring certainty to sudden events and sudden change. This is the domain of Saturn.

Social reformer, abolitionist, and principal in the Women's Suffrage movement Susan B Anthony is one such representative of the positive archetype of the Rahu/Saturn alignment. Anthony was born with the Rahu/Saturn alignment in Pisces in the domain of life associated with communities and friends. In addition, her planet Venus was also in Pisces as part of that planetary alignment. Anthony founded the New York Temperance Society after she was denied speaking because of her sex. With her dear and life-long friend, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, they led the revolution for the women's right to vote movement, which culminated in the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution. Colloquially known as the "Susan B Anthony Amendment," the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution was introduced by Republican Senator Aaron A. Sargent. It was ratified in 1920, fourteen years after the passing of Anthony on the centennial of her birthday.

In 1950 Anthony was posthumously inducted into the Hall for Great Americans. In 1979, Anthony became the first US citizen to appear in US currency on the face of the Susan B Anthony US dollar coin. In 1999, Ken Burns and company produced the documentary Not for Ourselves Alone: The Story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B Anthony. Susan B Anthony's life record is a testimony of the power and persistence of the positive qualities of the Rahu/Saturn alignment in Pisces - starting a revolution guided by reason - and concluding with a reformation that benefits all, not just the chosen few. We will see what this Rahu/Saturn alignment will bring in the coming months.

APrIL 2025

Saturn entered the constellation of Pisces on March 29th, shortly after the solar eclipse. As Saturn transits slowly in the early degrees of Pisces, he will remain in close approximation all month to Rahu in the early degrees of Pisces, making this month a stormy time of sudden change.

Mars will retrograde back in the constellation of Cancer, which is his weakest placement. Therein, Mars will remain until the first week of June. Here, weakened Mars is all wet, unable to spark the necessary force to start the fires of transformation that are necessary for change. Be on guard not to lose your mojo in the face of the sudden events and storms that the Rahu/Saturn alignment will undoubtedly bring. The road ahead will become apparent - however, this is not that time. Be mindful and focused on that which is in your circle of influence, not that which is not.

Like quicksilver, Mercury will turn direct on April 7th in the early degrees of Pisces, and Venus will turn direct in the early degrees of Pisces on the full moon of April 12th. Mercury is an indicator of trade, commerce as well as business agreement. Venus is an indicator of partnership agreements, alliances, and peace treaties. All of these indicators of Mercury and Venus will appear to slip-slide into uncertainty and chaos during this month as the road ahead is shrouded in storm and shadow. Again, being mindful and not reactive to sudden events and shocks is important. The proverbial Mercury will rise and fall rapidly as Mercury is caught up in the storm this month. Be mindful to travel familiar roads that lead to assured destinations rather than unfamiliar roads and get caught up in the calamity of the maelstrom. There will come a time to venture forth and view the wreckage from the storm, but this is not that time.

The more slowly a planet moves, the more powerful its influence will be. When planets appear to stop and move backward or forward, they move much slower than their usual rate. Mercury and Venus are both stopping in the first half of this month and are, therefore, extremely powerful in the constellation of Pisces. Further, Jupiter is transiting Venus' sign of Taurus, and Venus is transiting Jupiter's sign of Pisces. This is a planetary exchange between the brightest planets in the heavens. Where there is light, there is growth. The slow movement of the planets of storm will collide with the planets of light, bringing the paradox of both storm and light during this time.

MAY 2025

Mercury will leave the maelstrom of Pisces on May 5th as he enters the constellation of Aries. As Mercury distances himself from the storm in Pisces, his usual discernment and good judgement will return, resulting in increased clarity.   Venus, however will not leave Pisces until the 30th of the month. Like Mercury, Venus will be moving faster this month, but still in the same constellation of the Rahu/Saturn alignment.

Venus is the planet of love and attachment. The power of love influences all relationships, and as Venus is most powerful in Pisces the people and places we love will become heightened during his sojourn in Pisces. However, Venus will be under the influence of the Rahu/Saturn alignment in Pisces all month which heralds the twin challenges of Rahu's storms and Saturn's separations from those people and places we love.   Rapid change challenges our connections. During this time you will experience those connections strained, potentially resulting in a stormy period for close relationship with friends, family, comrades, siblings and close partnerships. The winds of change are now upon us. We certainly prefer the wind at our back, but this will be a turbulent time when strong headwinds will bring challenges in close personal relationships of all colors and stripes. A strategy of head down during the headwinds will see you through essential relationships until sunnier times return.

The second half of May brings many planetary changes. On May 13th, Jupiter will enter the constellation of Gemini. Jupiter is the most enduring planet of light, taking approximately a year to transit a constellation. Jupiter will bring light and growth to this constellation for a year. The storm planets, Rahu and Ketu, change constellations on May 29th. This only takes place approximately every year and a half. The celestial storm in the constellation of Pisces will wind down during this time with the conclusion of the Rahu/Saturn alignment. Venus will leave the constellation of Pisces the very next day, on the 30th of the month. Both planets of light, Jupiter and Venus, will be free of any association with the previous storm pattern in Pisces, heralding brighter days to come in communicating and connecting with others.

JUNE 2025

Mars will come to his exact degree of weakness the first few days of June, trending to feelings of fatigue and exhaustion after the storm. Mars will enter the constellation of Leo on the 6th of June. Mars is very comfortable in the constellation of the King/Queen as his caste of that of a leader which Leo symbolizes. However, this will not be a comfortable time for Mars and the leaders he represents. The storm planets Rahu and Ketu have now moved to the constellations of Aquarius and Leo respectively.

Mars will have the company of the storm planet, Ketu, during his six-week sojourn through Leo. The Mars/Ketu tandem in Leo trends toward escalating conflicts - further feeding into extremism. Volatile, violent events take place during this short alignment. As Leo represents leaders and leadership, this will become a difficult time in leadership, resulting in sudden leadership changes, snap elections, and military coups fueled by anger and extremist agendas.   It is a powerful but short-lived planetary pattern that thankfully, will conclude by the end of August. Choose your conflicts wisely, as the fighting will be fierce.

Mercury will exactly conjoin Jupiter in the early degrees of Gemini on the 6th of June. Gemini is in the domain of Jupiter, and this transit bodes well for growing confidence in commerce, business and communications. While transiting the constellation of Gemini, Jupiter will cast his light upon Rahu transiting the constellation of Aquarius.   Like Gemini, Aquarius is an air constellation known for its novel and innovative ideas. The aspect of Jupiter on Rahu bodes well for growth and innovation in the fields of communication, technology, and of course, artificial intelligence. During Jupiter's year-long transit, this may be the time when we separate fact from the marketing hype of what AI can and cannot do.

Personal Forecast for Each of the Constellations
z-aries.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aries, April 14th – May 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with rest and repose. This is a time for the Ram to call it a day and take a well-deserved break. Rome was not built in a day - a rest-bit will help restore the Ram's spirits. If you are having a hard time relaxing or sleeping due to the increasing uncertainty of these times, perhaps the source of frustration is all in your head as the nature of Aries is head down and head-on. Take a break. When the going gets tough, the tough go on vacation! You don't always have to be in charge or at the head of the class. This time, the Ram needs to take a back seat, slow down the pace, as the proverbial road ahead is deep in storm and shadow.

z-taurus.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Taurus, May 15th – June 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with your friends, communities, and life goals. This is a powerful placement for the Bull as this alignment will challenge important friendships, communities and their purposes and goals. Taurus is among the most steadfast of the constellations, but when pressed too much and too often, will become bullish. If you have outgrown the purpose and path of the friends and communities that have enjoyed your steadfast efforts, this will be the time to move on in search of those friends and communities that are aligned with your current values. It may seem a shock to those who were unaware. However, if the shared values and goals have slipped into oblivion what indeed is the purpose of those friendships and communities?

z-gemini.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with career and vocation. This will trend to be a turbulent time for mobile Gemini, where you may feel highly mobile with your career in full flux. The vocational road ahead is engulfed in storm and shadow, and you may not be able to see your way forward in your current career. The sudden changes may appear as chaos, but after the storm has passed, Gemini will take note and quickly blaze new pathways, as your planet, Mercury, is the fastest of the planets that revolve around the Sun. Let your mantra be "blessed are the flexible, for they don't get bent out of shape" during this time. While everyone else is bemoaning the past, you have the ability to get with the new program and new direction very quickly. Yes Gemini, you can lend a helpful hand- for as they say- the times are changing.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with higher education and travel. The Crab will be facing important decisions if planning, or currently enrolled in higher educational pursuits. The educational road ahead appears fraught with shadow and challenge during this time. The uncertainty can spook the cautious Crab to withdraw into its shell. Pursuing higher education need not be denied but rather delayed at this time. If the Crab is uncertain, kick the educational can down the road to a more certain time when funding and education itself are not under such dark clouds. Travel for pleasure may not be as pleasurable as imagined during this turbulent time with stormy and chaotic weather patterns. If plans have already been made, the Crab is best prepared for the unexpected with a plan B, maybe a plan C, and travel insurance.

z-leo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Leo, August 17th – September 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with legacies, insurance, and taxes. Insurance costs for home, auto and medical are soaring to new heights. This alignment will only lead to more uncertainty for the Big Cat. Comprehensive insurance coverage- not just the cost of insurance - can emerge as a critical issue for the Lion. Wisdom suggests this could be the time to shop around and compare different offerings, but the Big Cat can be sure the more coverage you want the more you will pay for that coverage. Changes in the tax laws are afoot, so apprise yourself of these changes to benefit your bottom line with a good tax advisor. The Lion is magnanimous by nature, and during this time must be cautious not to overspend or over-reach. It is a circumspect time for Leo, as the times are changing.

z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein,  the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with intimate relationships and partnership. This stormy and turbulent time will challenge relationship and partnership for Virgo. If your relationship is already on solid ground, it will not only withstand the intensity of the storm, but become fortified and rock-solid. If not, challenges will be experienced , for it is only in storm that we become of aware of those who are capable, those who are dependable, those who are like a light-house beacon when lost at sea. Those not capable will flounder. When relationships and partnerships ride low in the water, fray at the edges during the storm, they create that sinking feeling. Virgo does not have to go down with the ship. That is what the lifeboats are for; the men and women who staff them will take you to a safe harbor during the storm.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with your health and work/life balance. If during this chaotic time Libra feels they are living to work, rather than working to live – this is the time for a radical reformation. If you feel that the work experience is threatening you with the proverbial "your money of your life," you know the right answer. Libra is about adjustment, but all adjustments usually start with an epiphany that change is needed to arrive at a balance. If you do what you did, you will get what you got - so you need to do it differently and you need to do that now! If over-worked, the current trajectory does not bode well for health and happiness. Libra must first stop to achieve balance. Then, restart with the novel idea that working to live will have healthy benefits for the pursuit of happiness, than living to work.

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein,  the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with progeny. Scorpio's children are caught up in the volatility of this time, and your planet, valorous Mars, will fight it out to protect their children, fight it out until hell freezes over, and continue to fight it out on the ice until the day is won! Whatever challenges are presented to Scorpio's offspring they will be met head-on by mighty Mars, who will rise to the occasion. Scorpions make great fire-fighters and can douse the flames of crises before serious damage has occurred. In crisis, they are exceptional in rescuing the day. However, if the situation is not a crisis - rescuing is not in order. If not a crises, Scorpio can model right action will also save the day - empowering everyone in the process. A high tide of right action puts out all fires.

z-sag.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Sagittarius, December 16th – January 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with home and family. This is the very foundation of the Archer's life. The uncertainty of this time can challenge the very foundation of where the Archer belongs and calls home. If the Archer does not like the nation, the providence, the state, the city, or the very home where they live, the approaching storm will bring the matter into acute focus. If you desire to move during this time, you must make sure you are certain as to where you are going -  not just certain of where you wish to leave! Your planet, Jupiter, will leave his association with the storm planets later this spring, driving back the shadow so the road ahead comes more clearly into view. The Archer can, at times, be overly optimistic. If you are sheltering in place due to the storm, you must be excessively realistic about your moving opportunities.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with siblings and comradery. This can be a turbulent time for the Goat's siblings and comrades. The Goat is usually reliable and dependable, so it will definitely reach out to offer support during this turbulent time to those in need. However, some changes and challenges are outside of the sure-footed Goat's circle of influence, and therein lay the rub. The sure-footed Goat must travel the very narrow path of the support they can offer, which will test the personal limits of their time and resources. It is truly humbling for the Goat to witness the increasing needs of others relative to the limits of self. It is the narrow path that Capricorn should follow during this time. Give what you can to maintain balance for all concerned. Comrades may become more competitive, but they do not view this as a threat; rather, they view it as an opportunity to up your game. The peaks of the Olympics are not for those who are untested. The peaks are for those who are tried and true, constantly facing the challenges of climbing to the summit.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with food and finance. This turbulent alignment is influencing the food and finances of the Water Bearer. The specter of inflation and the topsy-turvy tariff wars have increased uncertainty and trust in finances and food. On a positive note, this can be when Aquarius takes stock in a leaner, healthier, and more affordable diet, shunning expensive fast and prepackaged food. With costs on the rise everywhere, this is the time to develop a financial budget to address these stormy concerns. This may also be the time to establish a rainy-day fund in an emergency. Steer clear of any get-rich fast schemes. The Water Bearer may well morph into the Bond Bearer in search of certainty through guaranteed and low-risk investments, such as bonds and certificates of deposit.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the Rahu/Saturn alignment is transiting the domain of life associated with you. The Fish does not have to read Jean-Paul Sartre existential classic Being and Nothingness to know that identity and consciousness change over time. The current challenges in your constellation can represent the existential storm of reinventing yourself. The Fish may need to break away from the comfort of their contemporary school in search of a more tranquil, self-reflecting pool. No matter how turbulent the tempest is, it is paradoxically quiet and serene under the waves. The light still permeates the first few fathoms, so the storm can be viewed from a safe distance away. This is a fluid time for the Fish. Water and light are fluid and reflective mediums for the Fish to shape-shift, and assume a new identity. Yesterday's gone. Tomorrow is only as bright as the Fish can imagine. Carpe Diem!

Star Trends January, February & March 2025 Forecast

As we begin 2025, the United States has once again moved from the left to the right with the election of Donald Trump in the eternal dialectical process where ideas are understood by their opposites, leading to discussion and resolution. But a lack of discussion only leads to polarization and sadly, we are now living in times with little discussion. The last time the United States moved from the left to the right was with the election of Donald Trump in 2016, and then in turn to the left in 2020 with the election of Joe Biden. Although each party likes to claim a mandate where winner takes all, the open secret is that the congress and senate races in recent years have only experienced razor-thin party majorities where the Congress and Senate can suddenly swing left or right at the mid-terms, creating more chaos and confusion than the dialectical process’ rational outcome of synthesis and resolution. But who among us is to proclaim that politics is governed by rationalism?

Just as Joe Biden rescinded Donald Trump's executive orders when elected in 2023, Donald Trump has rescinded Biden’s executive orders, but being Trump, he Trumped Biden by rescinding 78 executive orders on his first day in office and pardoning hundreds of individuals as well. In the emerging confusion often the larger picture is obscured. The larger picture here being that since 2016, the United States has elected consecutively the oldest US Presidents in our history. Donald Trump was the oldest US President in 2016 at age 74. Four years later Joe Biden was yet older at age 78, and with this election Donald Trump is now 78 and will turn 79 in June of this year. The aging of the Presidency is obviously upon us, but the larger elusive obvious is that no one seems to want to acknowledge (least of all the oldest US Presidents) the aging of America is now front and center.

This wave of older Americans has been described as a “Silver Tsunami” in recent years. It is relevant to note that roughly seventy three million Americans are now age 60 to 78, making up one quarter of the population. This growing cohort outnumbers those who are 18 years and younger. You do not have to submit these statistics to an AI bot to do the math and see the proverbial “White Elephant” or, better yet, a “Black Swan” front and center. The math problem being, as more workers in the “Silver Tsunami” cohort age out and retire from the workforce, how effectively can a younger cohort of workers support themselves as well as the larger cohort of retirees? Among these “Silver Tsunami” retirees, fortunate will be the few who have saved enough for their Golden Years, but they certainly will be in the minority of this growing cohort. More, if not most, will rely on government programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. With the decline of pension funds, and the rise in self-saving plans such as IRA’s and 401-Ks, as well as recent inflation, the larger cohort of retirees will most certainly come up short. This reality is emerging as I write this column, and although Donald Trump proclaimed while campaigning that he would not tax Social Security, it is not among his first executive orders. Neither the current nor past administration has sufficiently recognized this urgent issue, never mind addressing this reality in their policies.

Others have seen the future and are discussing it. Phillip Bump’s The Aftermath: The Last Days of the Baby Boom and the Future of Power In America, Viking 2023, as well as James Chappel’s Golden Years: How Americans Invented and Reinvented Old Age, Basic Books, 2024, have both shone a bright light on this “White Elephant” exposing the reality and the reinvention of aging, in reference to the “Silver Tsunami.” The reinvention in aging has influenced our last elected Presidents, as apparently the new norm in politics is to assume the responsibilities of the Presidency from your mid-seventies into your eighties. However, if assuming the office speaks to the mythos of experience and wisdom, why was Joseph Biden’s aging hidden from the public during his final years in office? Why was he deemed too old by his party to run again, and will Donald Trump’s aging in office follow suit? Aging is often hidden, as there can be a perception of shame in getting on in years, and being viewed as less capable and infirm rather than experienced and wise.

If we cannot have a meaningful discussion regarding aging and the Presidency of America, how can we begin a meaningful discussion about this aging cohort which now makes up a quarter of the population? When the Baby Boomer cohort was younger, a larger proportion of the population was younger and proud of it - youth was in fashion. Now that that cohort is growing older, there appears to be a collective denial, as aging is clearly not in fashion. The new MAGA movement that should cross all party lines is “Make Aging Great Again in America” by fortifying Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare, which the majority of the retirement cohort will depend upon to live proud and dignified lives in their Golden Years in the land of Milk and Honey. However, too many of those less fortunate in this cohort will sadly experience that when there is No Money, there is No Honey.

In Vedic Astrology, Saturn is the planet of aging. One cycle specific to Saturn is when Saturn transits the natal Moon in the birth chart. This cycle is called “Saturn’s Sadi Sati.” It means seven and half years, which is the time it takes Saturn to transit through the constellations on either side of the birth Moon. Saturn’s Sadi Sati represents a coming of age in each of the seasons of life. As the Sat Graha, the planet of the truth, Saturn at times is said to be cruel, as yes, sometimes the cold hard truth is that life is finite and not to infinity and beyond. If we are wise in understanding this, we can experience a harvest in the area of life Saturn is currently transiting. However grateful we are for this harvest, it will be followed by a proverbial winter, not a spring. If we are ignorant or in denial of this fact - it matters not - either the harvest will be bountiful or bitter regarding the area of life Saturn is transiting. You will find where Saturn is transiting your chart for each constellation at this column’s end.

The sages of India divide life into four Ashrams, or stations. Like many cultures, they liken these stations to the four seasons. The latter seasons are metaphorically likened to the fall and winter of life and Saturn’s steady influence is paramount in these two seasons. Depending on lifespan, each of these seasons is twenty to twenty-five years in length. The quarter of the population who are now 60 to 78 are expecting that collective harvest. Just as our birth nativity has the Moon in a particular constellation, so does the birth chart of any one nation. The Moon in the birth chart of America is in the constellation of Aquarius, and so America is currently experiencing Saturn’s Sadi Sati. This cycle began when Saturn entered the constellation of Capricorn in 2020, and in these last five years, we have elected our oldest presidents. One-quarter of the population is now 60 to 78. As the cycle is seven and a half years, we have two and a half more to go and can no longer deny the aging of America. Whatever harvest we have reaped must carry us through the metaphorical dark winter - with hopefully something left over for those who are younger and following in our footsteps.

January 2025

January starts with Mars retrograding in the constellation of Cancer. This is the constellation where Mars is the weakest, as Mars is associated with fire and Cancer is a water constellation. You cannot start a fire without and spark, and here Mars is all wet. Whatever actions Mars sparks will not come to fruition any time soon during this transit.

Mars will retrograde into the constellation of Gemini on the 20th of January. Therein he will remain until the 2nd of April. Gemini is an air constellation and Mars’ influence here will trend argumentative and combative as if Mars’ ideas are the best and above reproach, where in reality it is nothing more than hot air! Further, Mars in Gemini will cast his aspect upon Ketu, now transiting the constellation of Virgo. Both of these planets are fiery in nature, so be wary of engaging with angry, hot-headed people as any discussion will quickly go south and quickly degrade from debate to a dog-to-dog pissing match over perceived territory.

January ends with Venus entering the constellation of Pisces on the 27th. This is Venus’s strongest placement where Venus is exalted. Venus is of the Brahmin caste and represents an educated and knowledgeable constituency. The other planet of the Brahmin caste is Jupiter. This will be a special Venus transit of Pisces, as Venus will be transiting Jupiter’s constellation of Pisces, and Jupiter will be transiting Venus’ constellation of Taurus. This mutual reception of both planets is mutually beneficial regarding the domains of life that Taurus and Pisces are associated with in your birth chart.

February 2025

February starts with Venus aligning with the shadow planet Rahu, who is now transiting the constellation of Pisces. Rahu is a storm planet and will challenge Venus during his transit of Pisces. Venus is the planet of the arts, and for many the arts, rather than politics, are where heaven touches earth. The arts imply artistic license, not conformity. The caste of Rahu is defined as an outcaste, or curiously, also as an artisan. The paradox of caste is that an outcaste feels ostracized and cast aside, bringing up conflicted feelings of differentness in relationship to connectivity. An artist has artistic license and does not belong to any one caste or group of people, but rather to all who celebrate artistic diversity. Often in times of challenge and conflict the arts inspire and connect us, rather than divide and conquer. We witnessed this in the Great Pandemic of 2020; as humans, we are social and connective by nature, yet we are told to fear our fellow humans whether they were vaccinated or not. The arts lead the way, not politics. The arts were and always will be where we could connect with our favorite songs, favorite books, favorite films, genres, and characters online every day, reinforcing our natural connectivity. In times of crises and polarization, the arts are not merely a form of escapism; they are a remedy of connectivity and celebration for all who feel different. The Venus/Rahu alignment in Pisces represents the storm of those who feel different than the current social order of the times.

Two planets will stop retrograding and start moving forward this month. Jupiter will stop and station and go forward on the 4th of this month in Taurus. Mars will station and go direct in the constellation of Gemini on the 22nd. As planets stop and station, they gradually pick up speed. The slower a planet moves, the more powerful and enduring its influence. Mars and Jupiter will become very powerful during the month of February. In the mythology of India, they are seen as younger and older brothers. Jupiter is the older brother, personified as Ganesh, and Mars is the younger brother personified as Skanda, and Karttikeya; the Indian god of war. The mythology regarding their brotherhood usually involved the older and wiser Ganesh educating his younger brother about the consequences of his rash and impulsive decisions. With both planets strong this month, war and conflict will certainly be front and center. We can only hope that the older and wiser brother, Jupiter, can educate his younger and not so wise brother, Mars, regarding the consequences of dreams of war and glory which Mars so values as a testimony to his youthful strength.

March 2025

March will be a momentous month with much celestial activity. Mercury is now transiting the constellation of Pisces and therein Mercury will retrograde on the 15th of the month. Mercury when direct spends a couple of weeks in a constellation, but when he retrogrades he can spend up to two months in a constellation, giving him greater influence. Mercury is mercurial; if associated with natural benefic planets he waxes more auspicious, and if he retrogrades with more natural malefic planets he waxes more difficult.

This Mercury retrograde is mixed, as Mercury will be retrograding with Venus in Jupiter’s sign of Pisces, and due to the mutual reception with Jupiter in Venus’ sign of Taurus. Mercury’s association with the natural benefic planets is auspicious. However, Mercury will first come into contact with the shadow planet Rahu in Pisces. Rahu is a natural malefic planet and an indicator of eclipses, which will occur later this month.

When Mercury, Venus and Jupiter come into planetary alignment, it forms the auspicious Saraswati Yoga. Due to Venus and Jupiter’s planetary exchange, with Mercury now in Pisces, these three planets are all in alignment, which forms the Saraswati Yoga. Mercury waxes auspicious when connected to the principal planets of light, Venus and Jupiter. All of the rivers of India are personified as feminine, for water is essential for creation and growth.

Saraswati’s river can no longer be seen as it has slipped beneath the surface. The fluency and currency of her river is now said to flow in the veins of artisans. Saraswati’s Yoga during this time will inspire all artistic endeavors. Be sure to watch the Oscars to see the inspirational diversity of the arts on the 2nd of this month.

In addition to Mercury retrograding on the 15th of the month, Venus will also retrograde in Pisces on the 1st of the month. Because both Mercury and Venus are retrograding, their transit through Pisces will be slower and of greater duration. Mercury will remain in Pisces until the 6th of May, and Venus will remain until the 29th of May, thus extending the confluence of Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saraswati Yoga until the end of the first week of May.

This is also a special year for the largest spiritual festival on the planet, the Maha Kumbha Mela, which occurs every 12 years in northern India when Jupiter transits Taurus. The mythology of the Kumbha Mela is found in the creation myths of Hinduism, where the Gods and Demons are struggling over who shall possess the amrita, the elixir of immortality. During the struggle, four drops escaped from the pitcher which held the amrita and fell to earth in various parts of India, which hosts the spiritual every three years. Every twelve years the festival is noted as “Maha Kumbha Mela,” meaning the Great Kumbha Mela denoting the greatest spiritual festivities. This year will be very special due to the special celestial alignments which only occur every one hundred and forty-four years.

Third_Shahi_Snan_in_Hari_Ki_Pauri.jpg

The Kumbha Mela is a spiritual rite that occurs at the confluence of India’s three sacred rivers: the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswati. At this auspicious confluence, devotees from many different spiritual paths bathe together. Some four hundred million people are expected to attend this year’s Maha Kumbha Mela! Gurus and Sadhus, from many different spiritual traditions, will bathe together in a celebration of unity in diversity, not unity in conformity. The word Kumbha translates to a pitcher, representing the pitcher of Indian mythology that holds the amrita, the nectar of immortality. Kumbha is also the name of the constellation of Aquarius, the symbol being a person pouring forth from this mythical pitcher. Although many believe Aquarius to be a water sign due to the symbol, it is fact an air sign, and the eternal amrita is the free flow of ideas unencumbered by dogma, doctrine and politics. The domain of life associated with the constellation of Pisces is where the confluence of the Kumbha Mela will be flowing in your chart which you will find at the end of this column.

Mercury will not be the only planet retrograding in the constellation of Pisces. Venus will retrograde on the 1st of the month. As explained, when planets retrograde they become more deliberate as they move more slowly, spending considerably more time in a given constellation. Because of the retrograde cycle Mercury will not exit the constellation of Pisces until the 6th of May, and Venus will not exit Pisces until the 30th of May, thus extending the influence of Saraswati Yoga until the end of the first week of May! This will be special time to become spiritually inspired by those that represent the proverbial pitcher of inspired thought in the realm of human ideation. New ideas, not old ones, will take shape during this time. Those who represent the proverbial desert of tried and not-so-true ideas will represent an obstruction to those inspired by progress. You may have to choose which community of ideation represents you during this time - in your own personal Maha Kumbha Mela. Spoiler alert: choose those ideas and the communities that inspire you as they pour from the mythical pitcher.

Last, and certainly not least, the month of March is not flowing over with love and light. It will feature two eclipses, creating a time of shadow. The lunar eclipse will occur mid-month on the 14th at 29 degrees of the constellation of Leo. This is a total lunar eclipse and will heighten the energy as it is exactly opposite Saturn; the planet of personal limits. This may be the time when the irritable force of change comes up against the immovable object, as represented by Saturn opposite this lunar eclipse. Feelings will run to the extreme mid-month, so be very careful not to get caught up in this celestial deluge. We get the word “lunatic” from lunar eclipses and this faction of fanatics will be out in full force during this polarized time. Despair not. The effects of lunar eclipses dissipate within days, as they are not as powerful as solar eclipse. Best not to take any radical action in the domain of life that Leo is associated with in your chart. March will end on a partial solar eclipse on March 29th at 14 degrees Pisces. This eclipse is a Rahu eclipse, as Rahu is already in the constellation of Pisces. This eclipse in Pisces occurs during the confluence of the Saraswati Yoga. In Indian mythology while the Gods where dispensing the amrita from the pitcher, the demon Rahu slipped in between the Sun and Moon and also received the nectar of immortality. During this time be vigilant, for the inspirational confluence as represented by the Maha Kumbha Mela does not become polluted by spiritual and religious zealots, nor intellectual elitists and fanatics who believe that their ideas and their gods are better than the rest.

The inspirational rivers of the Saraswati river are now flowing in the domain of life associated with siblings, comradery and the arts. The serious Goat needs to get out more often and take in a good movie with others. It will prove inspirational. The Oscar-nominated Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown is a good starting point.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with you, and if your Moon is in Aquarius you are experiencing Saturn’s Sadi Sati. We are all getting older, but when Saturn comes to your constellation you start to feel like you’re getting older! This is that time for the Water Bearer. This changes the perspective for Aquarius. If we recognize we are getting older, it means there is less time ahead and so how we spend that time and who we spend it with emerge with greater clarity and urgency. This is the time of an examined life for the Water Bearer. The inspirational rivers of the Saraswati Yoga are now flowing in the domain of life associated with finances and domesticity. The inspirational rivers of the Saraswati Yoga are in the domain of life associated with you. The answer to your quest is not further upstream; it is in the languid pools of self-reflection right there in front of you - if you will only stop and take the time to look.

Star Trends October, November & December 2024 Forecast

Just as each person has a birth chart erected for the time and place they started their existential journey, so do nations. The United States began its journey in time on July 4th, 1776 and the popular nativities suggest that it was early evening when this nation was born.

Just as each person experiences the various planetary seasons of increasing and decreasing light, so do nations. In the popular nativities of the birth of America, the nation was born into the cycle of Rahu. Rahu is a storm and shadow planet, an indicator of eclipses casting a long shadow of doubt. We were born in the bosom of the great storm that came to be known as the American Revolution.

In the popular charts of the United States, we have once again entered the cycle of Rahu circa 2015 to 2016. The contention, storm, and rebellion of each succeeding US Presidential election since that time has seen the storm of increased political extremism and political vitriol, at times reaching the kindling point exploding into violence.

Everything these days appears so increasingly polarized and politicized. There appears to be no middle ground. Even the weather is politicized, and astrology is no exception to this trend. The astrology of India, commonly known as Vedic astrology, comes from a time when India was ruled by Kings. Although India is the largest democratic nation these days, Vedic astrology hails from the Indian Raj, a time of the lineage of Kings. Succession was determined by lineage and bloodline. Kings were crowne - not democratically elected!

Kings sponsored the astrologers of their kingdoms, as only Kings had the resources to provide the astronomic tools and astronomical observatories that astrologers required to offer their celestial counsel. Among the legendary Indian astrologers was Varaha Mihira (circa 505 CE) who famously forecast the untimely death of the King’s son. Likewise, among the legendary European astrologers was Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) whose sponsorship by the Danish King enabled him to build state of the art astronomical instruments and the most accurate astronomical observatory of his time. Brahe’s advancement of astronomy and astrology was only rivaled by his famous assistant, the astrologer Johannes Kepler, who later became famous for formulating the laws of planetary motion.

As noted, astrologers were sponsored by Kings to offer guidance in ruling the royal realm during the reign of the king. They were not sponsored to predict who would be victorious in a democratic election! In recent years, however, a virtual cottage industry has emerged where astrologers, and the very validity of astrology itself, has been challenged by astrologers taking on the task of predicting who will win in a democratic election - as if the candidates were somehow ordained by the heavens, rather than the voters!

The hijacking of astrology for political purposes is part and parcel of the extreme polarization of our times. With essentially only two candidates running for election in our party system, the result is the equivalent of a coin toss with a fifty percent chance of being right or wrong. The practice of predicting democratic elections was never the domain of Vedic astrology. You will not find predicting election results in the classic Indian texts. It is a fool’s errand to predict elections, for as we have seen in our complicated US Presidential electoral process, one candidate can win the popular vote while the other candidate can win the electoral vote. This scenario can make Presidential predictions correct on either side of the aisle - making fools of all those who have indulged in such predictions.

Once the US election is decided and the next US President assumes office, we astrologers will draw our attention to their astrological chart regarding their four-year reign. The next US President will take office while America is still in the rebellious storm season of Rahu, so do not expect the storm of polarization to end with this election. Rahu is a planet of wealth, and the fame and influence that comes with it. So, irrespective of who wins this election it is the opinion of many that we have the best democracy that money can buy, until campaign finance reform becomes a reality and removes big money from politics

October 2024

There will be an annular solar eclipse on October 2nd in the constellation of Virgo. Annular eclipses are not total, as the Moon will not totally block the disk of the Sun. Annulus means “ring,” and a ring of fire can be seen on the outer circumference of the Sun. This eclipse will be at 15 degrees of Virgo and Mercury will be caught up in the solar eclipse with the storm planet Ketu. Mercury in Virgo will also be in aspect to Mars transiting through Mercury’s other sign of Gemini and this aspect will become exact on October 6th. Please read the Star Trends column to see what domain of life the solar eclipse will be influencing in your chart.

Ketu and Mars are hot and fiery planets and not compatible with Mercury. The proverbial Mercury will rise under these celestial influences until Mercury leaves Virgo and enters the constellation of Libra on October 9th. As Mercury is an indicator of commerce, business and technology, the trend for early October speaks to volatility and uncertainty in these areas. Be on alert for an increase in cyber threats, phishing and scams and the usual bad actors which seem to be a daily event. Check out your options for security upgrades to your current tech systems.

The bright spot of October is Jupiter’s transit through the constellation of Taurus. Jupiter is the consistently brightest planet in the night sky of all the planets circuiting the Sun. Jupiter casts his beneficial light on the October solar eclipse. When benefic planets, such as Jupiter, aspect eclipses, they bring more light, mitigating the effects of the eclipse. Jupiter will also cast his light on Mercury, mitigating the influence of malefic Mars, until Mercury leaves the constellation of Virgo on the 9th of the month. Jupiter will stop in the heavens on the 9th and start his retrograde cycle. Planets are especially powerful the more slowly they move, and Jupiter’s strength this month will favor the planets he aspects and the domain of life he is transiting in your chart as you read in my Star Trends column.

NOVEMber 2024

The month of November starts with Venus leaving the last degrees of Scorpio and entering the constellation of Sagittarius on the 6th of the month. Venus will remain in Jupiter’s constellation of Sagittarius until the 1st of December. Jupiter is transiting Taurus, which is Venus’ constellation, and so these planets are transiting each other’s constellations and creating a planetary exchange. Both Venus and Jupiter are the brightest planets and they are representative of the Brahmin, or educated class of humanity. Their planetary exchange trends are positive this month for education, the arts and travel for pilgrimage and educational purposes.

Mars entered the constellation of Cancer in late October and will continue his sojourn for quite some time. Mars is most powerful in the constellation of Capricorn and least powerful in the opposite constellation of Cancer. Therein Mars becomes debilitated where his natural agency and force are blunted. Mars’ weakness in the water constellation of Cancer can best be described as feeling “all wet,” having lost that fiery spark. More effort seems required to arrive at perceived goals and outcomes. Frustration will abound with outcomes taking much longer than expected. Take a chill pill while those around you rant, rave, and rage.

November starts and ends with Mercury in Scorpio, as he will retrograde on the 25th of the month. Mercury is the fastest and most mercurial of the planets that revolve around the Sun, usually transiting a constellation in a couple of weeks. However, when retrograde, he takes much longer to transit a constellation and thus has a more powerful effect. As a result of this retrograde cycle Mercury will not complete his transit of Scorpio until January 3rd of 2025! If Mercury retrogrades with natural benefic planets he waxes beneficial in influence. If Mercury retrogrades with natural malefic planets he waxes malefic in influence.

This Mercury retrograde is mixed, as Mercury will transit opposite the natural benefic Jupiter in Taurus, and Mercury will be aspected by the natural malefic Saturn in Aquarius. Mercury will first come under the exact aspect of Saturn on the 12th of November, trending negative for the first part of the month. However, he will then come under the exact aspect of Jupiter later on the 18th of the month, trending positive. Since this Mercury retrograde is mixed, you will see the proverbial Mercury frequently rising and falling. It might be difficult to take an accurate reading of the current temperature of events until this Mercury RX is over.

DECEMber 2024

December starts out with Mars going retrograde in the constellation of Cancer on the 6th of the month. Retrograde planets are more powerful in Vedic astrology, as they are transiting close to the Earth. Planets close to the earth are at astronomical perigee. Mars’ last perigee was the hottest year on record and so this perigee will likely tie or break that record. Mars will gain strength at perigee and trends negative for increased challenges regarding intense weather with the specter of flooding. It would be wise to have a plan B for holiday travel. Further, with Mars at perigee in a water constellation, conflict and wars can escalate, challenging international shipping and trade routes. As Cancer is the constellation of home and family, conflicts regarding housing and the housing market can become overheated during this time. It is important not to make fear-based decisions during a Mars transit. Be deliberate and clear-eyed when developing your strategies.

Venus will transit the constellation of Capricorn until the 28th of the month. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Venus and Saturn are best friends in Vedic astrology, representing long-standing relationships, such as marriage and partnerships and longstanding friendships. Venus in Capricorn will be transiting opposite fiery and frustrated Mars in Cancer, so let Venus encourage you to reach out to those relationships that have weathered the test of time this month. We have the choice to put love rather than fear and conflict first as we come to the Winter Solstice on the 21st. With all its celebrations of light, the Winter Solstice reminds us that this is not a place of absolute darkness. Find the light and love this holiday season - celebrating Venus as the brightest of the planets.

Mercury will continue retrograding in Scorpio at the start of December and again will come under the exact aspect of Saturn on the 6th of the month, again trending negative, continuing his roller coaster ride. Mercury will station direct in the heavens on the 15th of the month on the day of the full Moon. Feelings run high during full Moons, so be careful to shield yourself from the extreme negative commentary of our times. Thankfully, Mercury once again comes under the exact aspect of the natural benefic planet Jupiter on the 26th of the month to close out 2024. All is well that ends well in the light.

Personal Forecast for Each of the Constellations
z-aries.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aries, April 14th – May 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October will occur in the domain of life associated with health and work/life balance. If the Ram is burning the proverbial midnight oil, this is the time to take a step back and recognize you must take better care of yourself. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with food and finance. Jupiter here presents an opportunity to bring more conscious awareness to diet. No fad diets here under Jupiter, but rather a conscious lifestyle shift which favors proven healthy choices. These choices can also favor finances due to the increased cost of overly processed packaged foods.

z-taurus.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Taurus, May 15th – June 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October will occur in the domain of life associated with progeny and creativity. Challenges can arise during this time regarding the Bull’s children. It is far better to nip any challenge in the bud, rather than wait for it to bloom, and as the Bull is very family and progeny oriented and will rise to the occasion. The Bull’s tendency is to overwork and so this holiday season it would be wise to take some time off to get the creative juices flowing again. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with the Bull, and this is an excellent transit for improved self-care and self-inquiry focusing more on self-awareness than productivity and achievement.

z-gemini.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with home and family. Challenges regarding home and family can present themselves during this time. If mobile Gemini does not have that loving feeling regarding their residence this eclipse may be the turning point in deciding to move or upgrade to a better location. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with rest and repose. A good night’s rest is the foundation of a good day’s work. Jupiter favors rest and restoration here, and this is a positive time for Gemini to shine a more conscious light on their sleep and self-care schedule to restore good cheer this holiday season.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with siblings, comradery, and the arts. Challenges with brothers and sisters can emerge at this time. Be careful to be supportive and not to overreact. If the Crab is feeling disconnected and isolated, this can be a time to reach out to others. Also, Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with friendship and community. This is an excellent time to expand the Crab’s social network and develop a new sense of community. Jupiter here favors new friends who share similar values. Jupiter favors education, so enroll in an educational class to meet like-minded people.

z-leo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Leo, August 17th – September 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with food and finance. Challenges in these areas can erupt during this time. The Regal Lion is magnanimous and generous to a fault. In light of that, this can be the time when the generous Lion can develop a budget to see where all that money is going. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with career and favors career growth and advancement. In these inflationary times money is truly worth less, and this transit favors the Lion’s pride in earning more to assist budgetary concerns as well as a reflection of self-worth.

z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with you. Eclipses are excellent for self-inquiry and self-awareness, for when it is dark without the inner light is brightest. Upon self-reflection, if Virgo is not appreciative of the reflection in the mirror, now is the time to begin consciously to change that image. After all, it’s not in consciousness where we start, but rather where we ultimately end up. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with teachers and education. This is an excellent transit for educational pursuits, finding good teachers and gurus to guide Virgo to the promised land of a more conscious self.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with rest and repose. There is so much emphasis on ever-increasing productivity these days that the specter of burnout looms large. Perhaps a vacation or holiday from work will restore the creative juices of Libra. Now, not later is that time. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with debt and taxes. Jupiter here favors good financial advisors and gurus, as it is not how hard you work or how much you earn; it is rather how much of that you get to keep and how much of what you earn goes to taxes.

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with friends and ambition. Scorpions hold themselves to a high bar of achievement and this time suggests a reassessment of your life goals and associates. Be careful not to let your perceived reach exceed your grasp. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with relationship and partnership. This can be an expansive time to partner with new people who can grow with you. It is also an excellent time for growth in romantic relationships, as well as engagements and marriage.

z-sag.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Sagittarius, December 16th – January 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with vocation and career. Perhaps your current career trajectory has taken an unusual turn, and the future is not what it used to be. Often career reorganizations occur under these eclipses. Do not make hasty career moves during this time, as the Archer needs to see the target before acting. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with health and work-life balance. Sagittarius is advised to limit the turn and burn this holiday season and spend more time expanding their social circle.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with travel and education. The Goat is a very serious personality and naturally takes educational advancement seriously. If educational programs are not leading the Goat onward and upward, this will be the time to reassess those programs and goals. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with progeny and creativity. This is an excellent time for Capricorn to become more involved in the lives of their children and, if inclined, an excellent time to begin planning new additions to the family.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the October solar eclipse is in the domain of life associated with debt and taxes. If the Water Bearer needs replenishing supply, this is the time to address increasing debt issues during these inflationary times. A debt relief plan is the order of the day for Aquarius under this eclipse. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with home and family. This is an excellent time to lay down roots or move to a new area, home, or place where Aquarius can afford to lay down roots. The ability to do so will increase feelings of security and belonging.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of October is in the domain of life associated with relationship and partnership. Not all relationships are traveling on the good ship Lollypop, and even if they are, storms arise during the journey. Longstanding relationships will navigate the storms, as always. However, if there are cracks in a relationship that have turned into fissures, now may be the time for a serious reassessment. Jupiter is transiting the domain of life associated with siblings and comradery. This is an excellent time to connect with siblings for the holidays and those intentional others who share the Fish’s educated and progressive worldview.

Star Trends July, August & September 2024 Forecast

This December of 2024 marks twelve years since the demise of the Mayan long-count linear calendar, which foretold the supposed end of the world. The world, of course, did not end in December of that year as predicted. However, it was the end of the Mayan long-count calendar and the belief that the world would end. It is truly amazing how many people subscribe to the linear and equal theory of time, believing that all time is equal and moving toward some definitive conclusion which is reflected in today’s distorted linear civil calendar.

Vedic astrologers do not view time as linear and equal. We subscribe to the cyclic theory of time, and India has one of the oldest of the cyclic calendars. The Indian calendar measures time by the cycle of increasing and decreasing light, literally the journey from light into darkness and darkness into light. In the Indian calendar, time is divided and measured in grand cycles of increasing and decreasing light called ages, which are thousands of years in duration. Then divided into smaller cycles of increasing and decreasing light such as the seasons of the year, the bright and dark portions of the month right down to the diurnal and nocturnal cycle of the day.

Mayan_calendar_shutterstock_102161050_ed

The Civil calendar measures and divides the daily cycle of light and dark into twenty-four hours. Each of these hours is divided into sixty minutes, and each of these minutes is divided into seconds as the final quantification of time. The Indian calendar measures and divides the daily cycle of light and dark into thirty muhurtas, which are forty-eight minutes in length. Each of these muhurtas is divided into ghatis, which are twenty-four minutes in length until we arrive at a prana. A prana is four seconds in length, as the final quantification of time. Prana translates to a “breath” and the average breath of a person is said to be four seconds in duration. You cannot breathe in a second; however, you can breathe in a prana, which is four seconds in length. If you cannot breathe in a second you literally cannot exist in a second. You can exist in a prana.

The Yogis/Yoginis of India believe that we each have an allotted amount of breaths. They practice the science of breath management called pranayama. The goal is to slow down the breath - as breath is time, by slowing down the breath, we slow down time. It seems to work as Yogis/Yoginis are famously long-lived due to the mastery of breath. This begs the question of the civil calendar’s quantification of time in seconds, as opposed to pranas. Do you want to spend your breath like a Yogi/Yogini or do you really want to spend your breath like a hamster on the proverbial turn-and-burn wheel of time that is celebrated in modern cultures that value speed over existence?

Introspection

Modern cultures celebrate the Greek Olympic Games, where the winners are measured in a fraction of a second. The emphasis and celebration is on how quickly we can accomplish something being the first and fastest to the finish line. The false economy of speed is overemphasized in the proverbial faster work, faster food, faster exercise, faster healing, and ever faster technology- resulting in ever faster growth leading to the proverbial fast buck philosophy where speed is the gold standard above all others in our turn and burn, pump and dump economy. This false economy is driven by the linear and equal notion of time, as it places emphasis on fast quantification in a given period of time. There will always be ever faster computer chips that will effortlessly achieve a thousand times the calculations and quantifications per second than the brightest of our human species. However, the consequence of speed is false economy for although we may be first over the finish line, we will most certainly be last to know when it comes to all the mistakes we have made racing to the finish line in the heat of the moment. Heat is the side effect of speed, and heat leads to inflammation - which is not conducive to longevity for organic life forms as it speeds up the life cycle. We are seeing a false virtue in speed as we witness the specter and implications of an increasingly hot planet.

Older cultures, such as India, celebrate the Rishis and Yogis/Yoginis, who can cool the existential burn by slowing or even suspending the breath - the foundation of existence. The emphasis of Yoga is on quality of time and preservation of the life cycle, as opposed to the turn and burn philosophy of contemporary times. The slowing down of time leads to the preservation of life. The consequence of slowness is coolness which preserves and extends organic life - just like refrigeration extends the life span of all fresh produce. There is a great virtue in slowness, for our lives are not too rushed from birth to journey’s end and measured by some notion of quantification - such as those who quickly got the most money win when they leave this world! Rather, for most people, it is the quality and longevity of their lives that matter most. There is great virtue in slowness, as espoused in the timeless adage: Go slow to go fast, and get ahead of the mistakes rather than dealing with them in the rearview mirror.

Just like there are seasons in the course of the year, there are seasons in our lives. In Vedic astrology, each of the planets has a season - and each season has a rhythm and meter. It is imperative we understand our rhythm and meter so we can find others who are harmoniously in alignment with our pace. We must not judge ourselves by the rhythm and meter of those who may be in a different planetary season, a different pace and meter that is not in sync or harmony with our experience of time. More importantly, we must not judge our rhythm and meter against the turn-and-burn culture of speed. In that comparison, we will always come up short and never be up to speed.

In Vedic astrology, Saturn is the slowest and coolest of the planets of light taking his sweet time to transit all of the constellations in close to thirty years. His rhythm is slow and steady, and he is the antithesis of those who value speed above all else. Saturn is now the most powerful planet in the heavens, as he is in his own constellation of Aquarius, which is of the element of air. Saturn is the ruler of air and master of breath. He is leisurely transiting the domain of life that Aquarius represents in your nativity, so take notice. If you are caught up in the delusional culture of speed you may experience Saturn in Aquarius through the lens of delays and obstructions - words that are often associated with Saturn for those who are rash and impatient. It is far better to view Saturn through the lens of deliberation and perseverance - words that are associated with those who are calm and cool-headed. Whatever planetary cycle you are experiencing, Saturn is here to remind you that it is far better to walk than run through the time allotted to you in this lifetime.

July 2024

Saturn is transiting the last degrees of the constellation of Aquarius. Saturn is retrograde, and in Vedic astrology, retrograde planets are more powerful as they are moving more slowly and are close to the Earth. The more slowly a planet moves, the more time the planet has to bring about the fruit of its transit. Thus, slowness is more powerful than speed, for the faster a planet moves, the less time it has to make an impact. The domain of life that Aquarius is associated with will experience the full force of Saturn’s impact which you will find in my Star Trends forecast for each of the constellations. Do not fear Saturn, but rather seek to understand that Saturn’s job is to slow down the burn in the spirit of self-preservation.

Mars enters the constellation of Taurus on July 12th and remains therein until late August. Mars now joins Jupiter, as Jupiter entered Taurus earlier in May. In Vedic astrology Mars and Jupiter are brothers. The planets therefore have a close relationship. The mythology of their relationship speaks to the older and wiser sibling Jupiter, advising and mentoring the younger sibling Mars. Jupiter does this by keeping Mars out of trouble from immature rash and impulsive decisions. In these heated times of war and conflict Jupiter’s influence on Mars is very fortunate, for we must fight for and win the peace rather than stoke the flames of conflict with the winner take all - at all cost.

Lastly, Venus will remain in the constellation of Cancer until the month’s end. Venus does well in the constellation of the Moon, as the Moon is most powerful in Venus’ constellation of Taurus. Venus’ position in Cancer represents a positive and affirmative time for family connections and reunions. Nothing like connectedness with those we consider to be family, whether by birth or by choice, to bring about the spirit of brotherhood or sisterhood in these times of war and conflict.

August 2024

August starts with Mercury going retrograde in the constellation of Leo on August 5th. As I have said many times, Mercury retrograde has been scapegoated for a host of problems that are hardly of his making. As Mercury is the most mercurial or sensitive of the planets, a positive or negative Mercury retrograde is determined by what planets Mercury is associated with during his retrograde cycle. This Mercury retrograde proves problematic as Mercury will transit opposite Saturn as well with an aspect from Mars, the two natural malefic planets. The saving grace is that the natural benefic planet Venus is already in Leo and will align with Mercury on the 7th of the month.

Mercury RX

Mercury will stop in the heavens and station direct in the late degrees of Cancer on August 28th. I recommend not making important decisions the day before, the day of, and the day after Mercury stops in the heavens. The influence of natural malefic Mars on Mercury can lead to short-sighted panic-driven decisions, and the influence of natural malefic Saturn on Mercury can lead to procrastination and the proverbial head-in-the-sand mentality of denial. Venus and Mercury are best friends in Vedic astrology. So, the grace of Venus with Mercury is that Venus represents trusted colleagues and friends who can assist you in your decision-making process.

The month concludes with Venus in Leo aligning opposite Saturn in Aquarius on the 28th of the month. Just like Mercury and Venus are good friends in Vedic astrology, Venus and Saturn are even better friends. Although the word opposition can imply conflict, it also can imply cooperation. It all depends on the nature of the relationship. That is why in Vedic astrology, when planets are opposite, it is called the full aspect. When the Moon is full, it is always opposite the Sun, receiving the full light of the Sun. Over time, all relationships that continue will have to overcome challenges and conflict. If they have done so in the past they in all likelihood will continue on that trajectory. These relationships are our true and steadfast friends, not just the fair-weather variety. If your relationships are strong and steadfast, they will ease on down the road with Venus and Saturn in full aspect. Fair-weather friends, on the other hand, may up and leave at the first sign of stormy weather.

September 2024

September starts with Mercury exiting the constellation of Cancer, moving into Leo on the 9th of the month. Mercury will no longer be under the aspect of Mars, but will be opposite Saturn. Mercury will align opposite Saturn on the 18th of the month. Watch out for the creep of negative thinking that can influence decision making during this time, in addition to the twin maladies of procrastination and denial.

Mercury enters his own constellation of Virgo on the 22nd of the month. Here Mercury is strong being in his own sign. However, he will be under the influence of not one but two malefic planets. Mars will be in the constellation of Gemini for the month of September. Here Mars will aspect Mercury in Virgo during Mercury’s transit of Virgo. The Pitta or heat of Mars is not Mercury’s friend. Further, the other Pitta planet, Ketu is already transiting Virgo and will only add to the increasing heat Mercury is experiencing. Mercury and Ketu will align on the last two days of the month. As Mercury is an indicator of commerce, trade, and technology, this portends a difficult time in these sectors, turning up the proverbial heat. The end of the third quarter business cycle looks volatile, where current trends may not hold sway.

The full Moon of September 17th is a lunar eclipse at 1 degree Pisces. Eclipses fall into different categories, from the most powerful, which are total, to the least powerful, which are partial. This is a partial lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses occur when the Moon is full, and are not as powerful as solar eclipses. The astronomy of a lunar eclipse is that the earth is between the Sun and the Moon, but the Moon is close to the Earth, so the shadow of the Earth is cast upon the Moon. We all are aware of the effects of the full moon in the common parlance of the word “lunatic” describing those who have lost their ability to reason and are on the verge of delusion. The influence of lunar eclipses fades quickly as the Moon moves so fast, but I recommend caution leading up to the lunar eclipse and remaining calm, cool, and collected in all conversations regarding extremism and conspiracy - especially in the realm of religion and politics! Watch a favorite sitcom during the eclipse, as humor and laughter are the best remedies against delusion.

Personal Forecast for Each of the Constellations
z-aries.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aries, April 14th – May 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with your friends and ambitions. Saturn here is strong in his own sign and favors long-range plans, not short-sighted strategies. Rome was not built in a day. The Ram needs to hurry up and slow things down and plan for the long home run at the end of the game. Cool your jets and get into a rhythm that will help you go the distance in fulfilling your dreams. Friendships are favored with those who are like-minded and in the game for the long haul. Opportunistic fair-weather friends will fall by the wayside, as not everyone can go the distance. Those who can will surprise you when they show up - and show up they will during this time.

z-taurus.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Taurus, May 15th – June 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with your profession. This is a slow and deliberate time for the Bull regarding career. Saturn is strong here and favors deliberation in career. If The Bull is among the self-employed and has built a reputation in their career, this is the time to take stock and savor the fruits of their labor. Taking some time-outs, or time off is favored to get the creative juices flowing again. If the Bull is working for others, the story may be quite different. If the Bull feels appreciated and recognized for their contributions, they can stride forth in contentment. If not content this may be the time where The Bull sees the end of the road and has the opportunity to take the first exit or cool their jets and develop a sound exit strategy.

z-gemini.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with education and spirituality. Saturn is strong here and favors education, especially the more humanistic fields regarding the human condition. If mobile Gemini is pursuing an advanced educational degree, this can be an extraordinary time of recognition and accomplishment for both teachers and peers alike. If not currently enrolled in an education program this can be the time to take stock of what really engages you and what you really want study so you can get on point. Saturn only favors serious travel for educational matters and spiritual pilgrimages, bringing connectedness and communion with like-minded folks.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with legacy, taxes, and debt. Saturn is strong here and favors a serious look at these matters. If the serious cost of living has resulted in the Crab becoming crabby, this is the time to address these issues. If the current tax code is not favoring you this is the time to get with the program to ensure you are getting all the deductions you deserve. If debt is rising relative to income the Crab will need to embrace a serious debt relief program so a light at the end of the debt tunnel can actually be seen and a plan is set into motion. Such efforts will create a sense of buoyancy for the Crab, for as the financial tide changes direction, the Crab can see the beach of their personal security within view, rather than clawing their way sideways!

z-leo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Leo, August 17th – September 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius in transiting the domain of life associated with partnership and relationship. Saturn is strong here and only favors a realistic look at partnership and relationship. Saturn is realistic - not overly romantic. If any business partnership is lacking in equality this presents a serious time to remedy this lack, or move on. Long-standing relationships that have overcome difficulty and adversity in the past will fare well as they have been tried and tested. New relationships, however, will be tested, and often this transit is a wake-up call. If you are experiencing “the sound of one hand slapping” in your romantic relationship, this wake-up call demands a serious discussion, or counseling to forge a path forward.

z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with health and work/life balance. Saturn is strong here and favors increasingly better self-care. If your work demands and self-care needs are not in alignment, this will be the time to address that imbalance. If your daily work routine is in the turn-and-burn category and you are experiencing chronic exhaustion, you may need to seek different employment to address and assert your self-care needs, less you will suffer burn-out. If Virgo perceives their self-care is improving and is getting better every day, then they are well on the way to achieving this benchmark balance. Once achieved, it is imperative to maintain this balance and continue to develop and practice good habits that reinforce this accomplishment.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with progeny and creativity. Saturn is strong here and favors a serious approach to parenting for lovely Libra. Most parents want to be better at parenting, and Librans will find they can be among the best to meet their child’s needs during this time. If wanting to become a parent is a priority, this will be a very serious time to access what is needed to make this happen. Saturn, after all, does not leap into these matters quickly but with eyes wide open. If you feel you have lost your creative mojo and are in fear of becoming dead-pan - Saturn can help. Look back to the past when you had your mojo and reclaim those creative activities, and Libra can reclaim that lovely and loving feeling again.

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life that is associated with home and family. Saturn is strong here and favors domestic security. If Scorpio is feeling settled where you live, this a wonderful time to develop roots and a sense of community. If you are thinking of remodeling with Saturn here be aware that Saturn favors minimalism and projects always take longer than anticipated due to Saturn’s demanding standards. If Scorpio does not feel settled, in all likelihood, this will be the time to find that new home and new community that offers that potential. Strong Saturn does not easily compromise. There is more a tendency to be committed, either all in, or all out.

z-sag.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Sagittarius, December 16th – January 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with siblings, sports, and the fine arts. Saturn here favors strong connections with others who are serious and like-minded. If the connections to siblings are not serious there may be feelings of distance in those relationships. If the Archer is artistic, or athletic, this is an excellent time to get very serious about the fine arts, or sports. It is not enough to merely be proficient, as strong Saturn demands mastery in the arts and competitive sports. Sagittarius may actually become interested in a professional career in the arts or professional sports that are more collaborative or team-oriented.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with food and finances. Saturn is strong here and favors a serious approach to both food and finance. Now is the time for the Goat to embrace the conscious food movement. It does not mean all Capricorns are destined to become vegetarians; however the Goat’s omnivore days are dwindling down. Saturn favors quality, slow-burning foods, not the junk burn of fast foods. The Goat will be glad to embrace this philosophy, which has profound health benefits. A sure-footed approach to finances is also in order for the Goat based on time-tested practices. Nothing too novel or high risk or highly speculative, which is not in Capricorn’s nature.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with you. Saturn is strong here and favors a serious, critical analysis of self. Although favoring those who are older in the proverbial examined life, Saturn favors all under his influence here to examine who they are relative to who they wish to become. Although Saturn types are solitary by nature, this does not mean that Aquarius has to do this all alone. There are great philosophers in the realm of self-analysis who can accompany the Water Bearer on this journey. It is not enough to exist; it is more important to show up, and most important for Aquarius to show up as the humanistic, authentic self.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Saturn in Aquarius is transiting the domain of life associated with rest and repose and philanthropy. Saturn is strong here and favors that the Fish bask in the backwaters rather than swim upstream. Pisces can feel fatigued under Saturn’s influence in this area of life. Perhaps, a daily time-out or vacation is needed. For some Fish, a more extensive worldly withdrawal or retreat is in order. For those Fish who are older and wiser, perhaps a semi-retirement is in order; for others it may be that time to turn out the light and let the curtain fall and become involved in philanthropic activities. Saturn values slowness, so whatever is needed - it all starts with a simple step back to get the journey started.

Star Trends May & June 2024 Forecast

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Google’s 2004 IPO. Ten years after going public, Google became the second wealthiest company in the world, only succeeded by Apple. Shoshana Zuboff chronicles Google’s transformation in her 2019 classic, The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the Frontier of Power. Zuboff explores the rise of what she calls “surveillance capitalism” right out of Silicon Valley to the financial sector, where predictions of future behavior - based on our personal data - are bought and sold in “behavioral future markets,” creating maximum wealth and power for their proponents. She remarks that most of it flies below the radar with little or no oversight and little or no ability to opt-out, threatening our very democracy.

2430722097, User ID: 426387487

Zuboff details Google’s transformation from an internet search platform into a data collection platform without users’ knowledge or permission. The path to profit began with the conceit of calling users' search actions “behavioral surplus,” and the claim to those search assets led to the rise of “surveillance capitalism,” which transformed Google into a financial juggernaut promising extraordinary wealth to the company and its investors. She also comments on the launching of Facebook in 2004 following a similar trajectory as Google; FB, like Google, she alleges the company morphed from a social connecting platform to a personal data-for-profit platform in a similar spirit of “surveillance capitalism.”

Zuboff is not alone in her astute assessments regarding the use of technology to gather data for profit and for power. Witness the recent publications Means of Control: How the Hidden Alliance of Tech and Government is Creating a New American Surveillance State by Byron Tau, as well as The Sentinel State: Surveillance and the Survival of Dictatorship in China by Minxin Pei being just the latest additions detailing how mass surveillance is no longer a conspiracy, but a normative reality. Data brokers are everywhere and each keystroke on your smart-tech device will be bought and sold by the data brokers in “behavioral futures markets” as just another commodity. The “Big Brother” model of surveillance, as envisioned by author George Orwell, has now morphed into a “Big Other” mode of surveilling the social order with implicit threats to our personal liberties and democratic principles.

The promise of novel technology to gather this data faster and faster has fostered a wealth of technology-based start-ups, with billions and billions of dollars currently invested in the new tech data-gold rush for those in search of fast real-time data, fast access to its power, and of course the proverbial fast buck. Some of these novel technologies have rewarded investors handsomely for their risk, as Google and Facebook are prime advertised examples of the data gold rush. Others have failed miserably, and they come out of the shadows more slowly, urging a cautionary tale. Witness the medical blood-testing start-up Theranos. The novel technology of blood analysis was determined by a court of law to be fraud, which led to prison sentences for founders Ramesh Balwani and Elizabeth Holmes.

Likewise, the electric vehicle company Nikola was determined by law to be a scam, and founder Trevor Martin was sentenced to prison just last year. Lastly, and most recently, the cryptocurrency exchange FTX found a similar fate, as its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, was convicted of fraud last year and is currently in jail, serving a lengthy prison term. Billions in investments evaporated overnight as these novel technologies proved to be nothing more than a novel scam. Often, where there is a fast buck, there also lurks a fast fraud. Sadly, many of these novel technologies are framed in a humanistic light as being of service for the betterment of all. The medical innovation of the real-time blood tests of Theranos, the promise of zero emission of Nikola's electric vehicles, and Sam Bankman-Fried’s stated philanthropic vision were at the heart of FTX. When novel technologies are framed for everyone's benefit, we all too often become less vigilant in examining who those technologies will benefit the most in terms of extreme wealth and power.

In addition to known fraud, there is always unknown fraud, where data brokers buy and sell data on the “Dark web” and other unknown platforms, resulting in a cascade of attempted fraud, which is now a familiar daily event. We all have received and continue to receive scam calls, scam emails, as well as cyber scams and ransom malware targeting industries and government. These attacks evolve and rapidly change as the technology evolves and changes. This, in turn, has led to an increase in the lucrative surveillance data protection and securitization industries. The caveat here is you have to give these industries access to your personal data in order for them to protect your data, so it is imperative to read the data-sharing disclosures of these companies before you engage them in protecting your data. The technology and the field are again dramatically changing and evolving, which brings us to the novel technology of AI.

Digital social media

Artificial Intelligence: AI is a novel technology that promises a technological revolution with vast and varied implications. Generally speaking, AI represents computer systems that enable machine intelligence to analyze data to arrive with a greater probability at defined goals. This fits into the definition of Zuboff’s “behavioral futures markets” for profit at the heart of “surveillance capitalism.” The larger social ramifications of the AI revolution are already in play, and the debate will continue to evolve in both the private and public sectors. As part of that debate, Elon Musk is suing OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company, for placing profits and commerce in developing AI ahead of the public good. Musk claims OpenAI abandoned a founding pledge to make AI technology publicly available. Yes, Elon Musk is one of the world’s wealthiest men and has the money to examine and debate who gets to define the goals of AI - and who gets to benefit the most from those goals. In addition, the New York Times is also suing OpenAI and Microsoft as well for copyright infringement. Elon Musk is one of the world’s wealthiest men, and both he and the Times have deep legal pockets to examine who gets to define the goals of AI - and who gets to benefit the most from those goals. However, neither you nor I, John and Jane Public, have the wealth and leverage of Musk or the NY Times, so we will all have to be spectators, not participants in the future of AI.

Although AI is touted as a game changer in certain business sectors and certainly has the potential for the public good, undoubtedly, the default will be to follow the money to see who defines the goals of AI. Emerging technologies require new devices as old devices and platforms become obsolesced. The audio tape and VHS platforms were replaced by the CD and DVD platforms, as the digital replaced those platforms, and so on and so forth, with a financial boon for those individuals and companies who invested in the novel technologies. We are in the midst of another revolution with AI, and investment is soaring for the many hyped promises of emerging technologies.

However, lest we forget - where there is a fast buck, there is also fast fraud. The “behavioral futures markets” have great potential for profit for legitimate start-ups but the exponential potential for profit from bad actors, scammers, and the ever-present fraudsters. As the humorist Mark Twain jested: “Great people borrow other people’s material, but truly great people outright steal it.” Twain’s humorous warning has never been more relevant than in this time of “Big Data” and “Big Other.” AI’s novel machine intelligence can copy our faces and our voices and, in short, copy our very identities if so programmed. The AI lawsuits of Elon Musk and the New York Times will be revelatory in viewing the future of AI and unveiling the forces that are currently shaping its direction, for without this inquiry from law or public revelation, “surveillance capitalism,” with its novel tech instruments, has the potential to trample our hard-won personal liberties and threaten our democratic freedoms. The debate will undoubtedly become more public and engaged with undoubtedly more lawsuits to follow.

MAY 2024

The month of May starts out with Mercury moving direct in the constellation of Pisces, where he will remain until the 10th of May. Mercury will still be with the shadow and storm planet Rahu trending to challenging and confusing economic data like the previous month. Witness another bank failure as Republic First Bancorp of Philadelphia was seized by Federal regulators as Mercury aligned with Rahu in the last days of April. The economic data remains unclear and confusing while Mercury is in the shadows. Mercury leaves Pisces and, thankfully, Rahu, emerging from the shadows when he ingresses into Aries on the 10th.

In addition, militant Mars will be transiting the constellation of Pisces until the end of May. Mars will exactly align with the storm and shadow planet Rahu in Pisces on the 19th and 20th of the month and with the eclipse point of 25 degrees of Pisces on the 25th and 26th of May. Mars’ alignment with Rahu and the eclipse point will only escalate present conflicts during this time, so peace will not rule the planets or stars during this time. Mars, no longer held back by Saturn’s embrace from Aquarius, will run rampant over any perceived resistance, increasing the probability of an escalating feedback loop of attacks and reprisals, as well as an escalating feedback loop of demonstrations and protests on both sides of the conflict. Heated conflict with the potential for violence will be in the air, so make sure you do not get caught up in this jet stream as it will be difficult to exit with a soft landing. Please read the star trends column to see where Mars and Rahu are influencing your chart.

The exciting news for May of 2024 is that Jupiter will leave Mars’ constellation of Aries and enter Venus’ constellation of Taurus on the 1st of May. Therein Jupiter will remain in Taurus for one year. Both Jupiter and Venus represent the Brahmin caste of people, the experts we turn to for advice and problem-solving. Every year, the two Brahmins, Venus and Jupiter, align for approximately three weeks when Venus comes to the constellation Jupiter is transiting. This May, Venus enters his own constellation of Taurus on the 18th of the month and exactly aligns with Jupiter at 5 degrees Taurus on the 23rd of May - the day of the full Moon. The full moon of May at 8 degrees of Scorpio is considered extremely auspicious as it forms the highly benefic Chandra-Adhi-Yoga, which is favored for academic and educational pursuits, as well as artistic and creative endeavors.

At the very end of May, on the 30th, Mercury will enter the constellation of Taurus to join both Venus and Jupiter therein. This planetary combination goes under the name of Saraswati Yoga. This variant of the planetary combination can only occur for a short period of time when Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter will be together in the same constellation. The Indian goddess Saraswati is depicted as one of India’s sacred rivers, where a river flows and life flourishes, as opposed to the dry river beds of the desert. Saraswati’s river no longer flows on the surface but rather beneath the surface. The currency and fluency of her river, now beneath the surface, is said to now flow in the arts: the artisans of poetry, prose, and literature - those who have the ability to inspire rather than perspire humanity! Look to those who have the ability to inspire and unite us under this auspicious planetary combination - not those who seek to divide and conquer.

June 2024

June starts with Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter in Taurus, and the Moon joins this array of benefic planets on the 5th and 6th of June's New Moon. The naturally benefic Venus is the ruler of Taurus, but therein, the Moon is exalted in Venus’ constellation. This planetary alignment only occurs for a couple of days, and this time, it is in the fertile constellation of the Bull.

The Bull is the symbol for the constellation of Taurus. It is a symbol of fertility and growth, as the Bull plows the land the cow provides milk when mother’s milk is in short supply to ensure the healthy growth of our progeny. The constellation of Taurus occurs in the bright part of the year as we come to the Summer Solstice - the time of greatest light north of the equator. The New Moon of June on the 6th will be exalted with all the naturally benefic planets in the constellation of Taurus. Be mindful of the proverbial seeds you wish to plant during this auspicious time, as their assured growth can certainly benefit you but also benefit others in the spirit of a high tide raising all boats. Please read the star trends column to see where the Saraswati Yoga will influence your chart.

Naturally malefic Mars will enter his own constellation of Aries on the 1st of June. Here he will remain strong for the month of May. Naturally malefic Saturn will also be transiting his own constellation of Aquarius and will also remain strong for the month of May. Saturn will cast his aspect on Mars for all of the month, holding Mars in check. Mars’ youthful hubris in his own constellation will thankfully have adult supervision from the older and wiser Saturn. Mars’ natural exuberance benefits most from Saturn’s aspect when channeled into constructive, not destructive, activities. But both planets being strong this month in their own constellations will present a very interesting tug-of-war between the two naturally malefic planets.

June concludes as Venus leaves Taurus on the 12th, and Mercury leaves Taurus on the 14th, as they both ingress into Mercury’s constellation of Gemini. Mercury will conjoin the Sun on the 14th in what is called the superior conjunction. When Mercury conjoins the Sun, he becomes combust, being overly heated in his proximity to the Sun. Mercury literally disappears from the sky, being in such proximity to the Sun that he cannot be seen in the heavens. Once Mercury gains some distance from the Sun by being at a later degree, he can be seen once again. This happens as the Sun sets in the west, followed by Mercury setting later than the Sun, as he can be seen in the west right after the Sun sets. Mercury will again be visible later in the last week of the month. As the planet of commerce and business, Mercury will be strong in his own constellation with his best friend, Venus, which augers well. However, due to Mercury’s combustion, the time will trend to an overheating of his business indicators, which sadly suggests that the heat of inflation is not going to cool during this time. Mercury leaves his own constellation of Gemini on June 28th to 29th, entering the constellation of Cancer as he cools down and gains greater distance from the Sun. Be careful not to get caught up in the heat of the moment in your important decisions during Mercury’s combustion.

Travel to foreign countries is not favored during this time unless essential. Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with food and income. This can be an excellent time for the Ram to enter the food consciousness movement and change their diet for the betterment of both taste and health. Jupiter’s transit of Taurus favors food and finance. The Ram needs to focus on the money they will earn - not the money spent!

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with vocation and career. The transit of these planets often represents a time when sudden change is afoot, resulting in a time of vocational shock and awe. It is important that mobile Gemini access and digest these changes before responding to important decisions regarding career. Life and career become clearer down the road when these planets emerge from the shadows. Jupiter, Venus, and your planet Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life that is associated with rest, repose, and expenses. This domain also favors the non-profit and charitable vocational sectors of the economy, which may favor new career opportunities. Although retail therapy can offer quick emotional and aesthetic satisfaction, be wary of racking up unnecessary credit card debt during this delightful transit. Gemini needs to embrace champagne on a beer budget.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with education and travel. This can represent a volatile setting for the Crab in reference to travel and educational endeavors. Foreign travel should be carefully considered as travel schedules and itineraries can suddenly turn on a dime due to weather or political considerations. If educational pursuits cannot offer certainty of outcomes for the security minded Crab, it is best they should not be suddenly abandoned. Cancer may be in need of a break or a reset, or taking a time-out to reevaluate, which certainly is better than dropping out. Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with your friends and communities. This is an excellent time for the Crab to reach out and embrace new associations and communities with those who have the ability to inspire and motivate. The Crab sometimes gets crabby when confronted with change, but the change will do you good!

This is an excellent time for those in the fields of education, teaching, training, and the fine arts. This transit favors growth for the Lion. z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with relationship and marriage. All long-term relationships eventually experience turbulence that tests the compatibility and maturity of the partners. This trends to be that time for Virgo. Volatile circumstances can bring relationship challenges to the forefront. It is imperative not to react or judge too quickly in the heat of anger or passion during this challenging time. If your relationship is strong - it will survive and grow, but if irreparably damaged, this may well be a turning point in moving on. Jupiter, Venus and your planet, Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life that is associated with education and travel. This represents a truly auspicious time for Virgo’s educational pursuits in the knowledge-based and artistic-based educational programs. This time favors Virgo encountering gifted teachers, academicians and gurus that can inspire your educational trajectory.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with health and work-life balance. Lovely Libra will likely be experiencing the conflict of living to work as opposed to working to live in a demanding economy. If Librans find themselves bending over backward to please others at the cost of self-care, this may well be that time. Sometimes, it takes crises to get our attention so we can stop rest and reset in the direction of our well-being. Jupiter, Mercury, and your planet Venus, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with debt, taxes, and legacy. Venus is the people planet, as well as a planet of artistry and creativity. This is an excellent time to connect with like-minded people who are in alignment with your values and abilities. Don’t forget to take your charitable deductions on your tax returns, as life is not just about the write-offs but also the write-ins!

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, your planet Mars with Rahu in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with creativity and children. Scorpions that are parents can experience challenges with progeny in these extremely challenging times. No matter how serious the issues that present during this time Scorpio’s advocacy and determinism for their children will ultimately prevail. Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with relationships and marriage. This is an excellent time for a current relationship to grow more serious and committed, resulting in exclusivity or marriage. Existing relationships have the potential to grow in intimacy and support. Even if your heart has been broken before, this is the time for Scorpio to forget the past and come to the most intimate dance of the human experience.

z-sag.jpg

Your planet Jupiter, with Venus and Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with health and work/life balance. This is an excellent time to develop a knowledge-based self-care program so the Archer can reach measurable health targets. Sure, we all espouse better self-care, but better self-data and self-knowledge based metrics can make can make a huge difference in the Archer leading a healthier and more satisfying life.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with the sports, the arts, and siblings. Challenges with siblings can escalate during this volatile time and may need creative solutions to resolve. Injury from excessive exuberance in competitive sports can also result during this time. The sure-footed Goat needs to be on alert and follow a cautious path to avoid such pitfalls. Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with progeny and creativity. This time favors the children of Capricorn for educational and artistic growth and achievement. It also presents an auspicious time for the Goat to revive their creative potential and to visit and summit new horizons of creativity that finally are within view.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life associated with food and finance. The volatility of the economy can present a stressful time for finances for Aquarius. The volatility in food prices as well can be a dramatic stressor during this time. Rather than being stressed, the Water Bearer can address both these issues by embracing a more conscious approach to food purchases and food preparation, rather than going out to eat or ordering takeout! Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all aligned in Taurus, are in the domain of life associated with home and family. This is an auspicious time for Aquarius to spend more time and more money on the home and family. Perhaps a remodel or refurnishing is in the offering. If the family abode is less than inspiring, this could be the time to move to a more inspiring home or area.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Mars and Rahu in Pisces are in the domain of life that is associated with you. This presents a volatile time for the Fish, leading to the proverbial Fish out of water syndrome. The current storm for the Fish is on the surface and does not extend to the deep blue sea. The fabulous Fish has the ability to dive deep to avoid the current storm and experience the stillness and tranquility that accompanies a deep dive. Now is the time to take that deep dive into the ocean of mindfulness to remediate the current squall. Your planet, Jupiter, with Venus and Mercury, aligned in Taurus, is in the domain of life that is associated with food and finance. This is an excellent time for the Fish to embrace new culinary skills, basking in a tranquil and peaceful environment during meal time. Calming food in a peaceful environment, without the constant dissonance of disruptive social media, has the potential to take Pisces far from the maddening shore. Perhaps a more seafood-based diet will achieve the same result.

Star Trends March & April 2024 Forecast

2024 marks the centennial anniversary of the founding of Biodynamics, the first modern organic farming movement by the philosopher Rudolf Steiner. In 1924 Steiner gave a series of lectures in Germany in response to requests from farmers who were concerned about the agricultural ramifications of the prevalent use of chemical fertilizers. The farmers had noticed deteriorating soil and crop conditions, as well as concern for the health of livestock due to the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers. In a series of eight lectures Steiner developed a holistic and ecological approach to farming.  The core principle of Biodynamics was to view the farm as a whole organism, as well as to view the problems regarding soil, crops and health of animals and livestock as symptoms of the whole organism.

Organic Gardening

Further, holistically the farm exists in the context of the seasons of increasing and decreasing light which are self-evident in all agrarian movements; planting in the spring when the light is increasing, and harvesting in the fall when the light is fading. All agricultural activities naturally take place according to these timeless seasons of increasing and decreasing light, but Steiner also suggested that agrarian activities also consider the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the constellations in view of the greater cosmological whole.

This aspect of Biodynamics, such as examining the constellation that the Moon is transiting to time various agrarian activities, speaks to cosmology, but more specifically to astrology! Critics of Biodynamics claim that the same results can be achieved using current organic farming principles, as astrology has been, and many still consider it to be a pseudo-science, rather than a cosmic science. If Biodynamics considers the farm as a whole microorganism existing in the context of the whole macro-organism of the earth, then we naturally accept the timing of the farm’s activities relative to the seasons of increasing and decreasing light.

300px-Steiner_original.jpg

What Steiner was further suggesting was a quantum cosmological leap. We must also consider the farm in the context of the cosmos. Not so controversial when you realize that the earth, the moon and the planets all revolve around the Sun, and the Sun is one of many stars that populate the various galaxies. So naturally, Steiner’s approach includes knowledge of the celestial realm relative to Biodynamics. Totally makes sense.

However, there are exponentially more farmers than philosophers like Steiner, and there are yet exponentially more philosophers than astrologers. Alas, it is only natural that people at first reject what they do not understand. But the laws of the cosmos do not need the sanction of human belief to operate. They work perfectly in spite of human belief. Steiner was suggesting an empirical approach inherent to Biodynamics, for as we evolve in our understanding of our connectivity to a yet greater whole, this of course extends to the known cosmos. This ensures that our agrarian practices will evolve and grow as well, so “farming by the stars” is not truly as far-out as it sounds. Biodynamics is now actively practiced all over the world. The depleted and exhausted soil of countless farms, various crops, as well as wineries have all been brought back to vibrant life utilizing Steiner’s method. During the centennial of Biodynamics you will be reading many more of those success stories.

Saturn is the planet of farming. Saturn is associated with the goods of the earth from farming to mining, as well as the fossil fuel extraction industries. Saturn rules the constellations of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn is most potent in the constellation of Libra where he is exalted in his most powerful expression. In June of 1924, when Rudolf Steiner gave his series of lectures resulting in the birth of Biodynamics, Saturn was transiting his most powerful placement in the constellation of Libra.

Rudolf Steiner was born with the Sun in Saturn’s constellation of Aquarius and Saturn in the Sun’s constellation of Leo. Saturn in Leo is aligned with a full Moon therein, indicative of an exceptionally evolved consciousness. Saturn and the Sun are in each other’s constellation and their associations form the most powerful of all planetary combinations - Raja Yoga, the royal union. Further, Steiner has the constellation of Libra rising and Venus, the ruler of the chart, is placed in the constellation of Capricorn, increasing Saturn’s influence dramatically in Steiner’s birth-chart.

Saturn again is powerful, as he is transiting his own constellation of Aquarius for all of 2024. During 1924 when Steiner delivered his series of lectures the population of the earth was just under two billion. One hundred years later the earth’s population is just over eight billion. This four-fold population increase means there are exponentially more mouths to feed a hundred years later. Large and small farms alike will be under pressure for increasing yields to feed a growing population which can result in stressors to farming practices favoring quantity over quality, as well as the wild card of climate change upsetting the proverbial applecart. Saturn will be the most powerful planet in the heavens this year - just like he was the most powerful planet in 1924, giving birth to the first modern organic agrarian movement - Biodynamics - which deserves a careful examination, as it has withstood the test of time.

March 2024

March starts off with Mars exalted in the constellation of Capricorn. Here Mars has the potential to direct his fiery energy into constructive endeavors, but being in his most powerful constellation also favors conflict and conquest by those so inclined. Mars will reach his most powerful degree of exaltation on March 12th, right before he leaves Capricorn. This is a time to be focused, persistent, and constructive to achieve your goals in whatever domain of life is represented by the constellation of Capricorn. No shortcuts here - be thorough and deliberate and others will take notice.

Sadly, war and conflict are part and parcel of the human condition, so world tensions will remain on high alert with Mars so strong. Mars will leave Capricorn on March 14th and enter Saturn’s humanistic sign of Aquarius. Saturn is the ruler of Aquarius and began transiting his own constellation in January of 2023. Saturn will continue to transit Aquarius for all of 2024 and remain the most powerful planet in the heavens until he leaves his own sign in the spring of 2025. Mars is now in Saturn’s constellation and Mars is no longer top dog, as he has just left the top of the mountain while transiting Capricorn.  Saturn will break the news to Mars in the only way that Mars understands: when the so-called irresistible force meets the immovable object. The irresistible force of Mars is not quite as irresistible and long lived as it seems in the face of a more powerful Saturn.

Each of the planets has a Varna, or caste of people that it represents.  Mars represents the leadership class and when strong will propel those under his influence into leadership roles. Saturn represents the service class, and when strong will propel people under his influence into humanitarian roles. In times of war and conflict the majority of casualties are invariably the non-combatants and civilian populations. As Mars weakens in Aquarius in the second half of March, the humanitarian crises of the current and expanding wars will come into strong humanistic focus. “The eye for an eye” ideology that starts wars and conflicts, eventually over time becomes “The eye for an eye until everyone is blind” realization that we are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. The focus then shifts abruptly from the celebration of the victories to the tragedy of the victims.

March ends with a penumbral lunar eclipse at 11 degrees of Virgo on the 25th of the month. Lunar eclipses are not as powerful as solar eclipses, as lunar eclipses occur during a full moon when the earth is between the sun and the moon. During a lunar eclipse the shadow of the earth is cast upon the moon. The word “lunatic” is in common usage to describe those who are overly influenced by a lunar eclipse. It is best not to make impulsive decisions under the influence of a lunar eclipse, especially regarding the domain of life that Virgo is associated with in your chart. Stay calm, cool and collected, as the influence of the lunar eclipse wanes quickly after the full moon.

April 2024

Some months have significantly more celestial activity than usual and those months stand out, as not all time is equal. April of 2024 is one such month. April starts with Mercury RX in Aries on the 1st of the month.  As I often explain, not all Mercury RX’s are unfavorable, as it depends on the constellation in which Mercury retrogrades, and whether Mercury retrogrades with benefic or malefic planets. This Mercury RX trends in a more challenging direction, as Mercury will retrograde in Mars’ constellation of Aries, a natural malefic planet, as well as being under the aspect of Saturn from Aquarius, another malefic planet. In my experience, prudence suggests not to make important decisions the day before, the day of, and the day after Mercury stops in the heavens.

Excepting the Moon, Mercury is the fastest of the planets, taking 88-89 days to circuit all the constellations, which is approximately three months - the classic quarterly business cycle. Mercury RX represents receiving new information from the messenger, which can render old information no longer relevant. March represents the end of the 1st quarter of the yearly business cycle. It is best to be prudent with regards to business and commerce decisions until all the data arrives later, for the future may not be what was previously forecast. Further, Mercury will leave the constellation of Aries as he retrogrades into Pisces on the 9th of April. He will remain in Pisces until the end of the month and will stop in the heavens direct on the 25th of the month. During this time Mercury will be in close proximity to the shadow and storm planet Rahu, which is also transiting the constellation of Pisces.

The storm planets Rahu and Ketu are the indicators of eclipses. Each year there are normally two series of eclipses six months apart: a solar eclipse followed by a lunar eclipse two weeks later, or a lunar followed by a solar two weeks later. This year’s pattern features a lunar eclipse on March 25th and a total solar eclipse at 25 Pisces on April 8th. The total solar eclipse will be a Rahu eclipse, as the shadow planet Rahu is transiting Pisces at 21 degrees Pisces for the month of April. The eclipse in Pisces will cast into shadow the domain of life that Pisces represents in your chart. In addition, Mercury will be retrograding in Pisces and transiting over the eclipse point mid-month, casting a further shadow of a doubt on Mercury’s prognostications.

While retrograde, Mercury will be moving very slowly until he stops in the heavens stationary direct on the 25th of the month at 21 degrees Pisces. In fact, Mercury will be lingering at 21 degrees Pisces from the 23rd to the 27th of the month, in closely aligned with Rahu at 21 Pisces. This represents a volatile and confusing period of time with regards to business, commerce and affairs of life that are associated with Mercury. In addition, Jupiter and Uranus, the planet of the unexpected, will exactly align in the late degrees of constellation of Aries on the 20th of April - adding to the volatility.  This is not a fortuitous time to make important decisions based on incomplete and speculative information, especially during this unfavorable RX period. During times of shadow and confusion unscrupulous agents often escalate the confusion to create fear and panic for their own fortunes. Don’t fall prey to fear and incomplete information regarding the affairs that the constellation of Pisces represents in your chart, which you will find in the Star Trends column at the end for each of the constellations.

Lastly, Mars will align with Saturn at 20 degrees of the constellation of Aquarius on April 10th. Saturn’s influence will be to hurry up and slow down Mars, as Saturn represents the immovable wall of our personal limitation. For those limits that are in the circle of your personal influence, you can deliberately slow things down so as not to hit the wall so fast you crash and burn. There is no virtue in speed during this time; observe the speed limit in the affairs of your life that Aquarius represents, which you can find in the Star Trends forecast for each of the constellations at column’s end. For those affairs that are outside your circle of your personal influence, fasten your seat belt and caution those who are driving, especially if they do not believe in limits. This is an important, but short-lived transit, as Mars will leave Aquarius on the 21st of the month. In short, Mars demands what he wants yesterday, and Saturn delays and delivers tomorrow - reminding us to cultivate the virtue of patience, which is hard–earned during this difficult planetary alignment for April of 2024.

Personal Forecast for Each of the Constellations
z-aries.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aries, April 14th – May 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein,  the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with rest, repose and expenses. This can be an excellent time for the Ram to examine expenses relative to income and create a sustainable budget, as Mercury’s association with the eclipse pattern brings attention to financial and physical exhaustion. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with your life ambitions and friends. During this time the Ram may feel they are butting their head up against the proverbial wall of over-expectation. This is the time for the Ram to stop and regroup. Perhaps running with a slower group of friends and colleagues will lead to less head-butting and more realistic goals.

z-taurus.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Taurus, May 15th – June 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with your friends and ambitions. This can represent a challenging time for the Bull’s friends and ambitions. Close friends may experience strife during this time, so be open to offer assistance as needed.  Although the current terrain can be confusing due to Mercury’s association with the eclipse, the Bull will get there slowly and clearly. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with your profession. If you are a Bull who is self-employed, caution is advised to over-working during this time. If you work for others, be aware of overworking and hitting the proverbial wall of burnout. Exercise good self-care and take a few personal days or vacations during this stressful but short-lived transit.

z-gemini.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with career. This can represent a challenging time for Gemini’s vocation when sudden change is afoot. Your planet Mercury's association with the eclipse can bring further confusion. If the confusion is too much, you could be tempted to look elsewhere or choose a new vocational direction, but this is not that time. Better to stay the course until Mercury becomes clearer down the road when he emerges from the shadows. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with travel and education. You may experience educational or travel delays but do not be dismayed or dissuaded, for Saturn is mobile Gemini’s friend. Stay the course as clarity will emerge when Mars separates from Saturn.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with education and travel. This can represent a challenging time for the Crab about travel and education plans. Mercury’s association with the eclipse can create confusion, so do not make rash decisions, such as changing schools or majors during this volatile time. Foreign travel should be carefully considered as travel schedules and itineraries can suddenly turn on a dime due to weather and other considerations. The Crab gets crabby when presented with sudden change.  Mars and Saturn are transiting in the domain of life associated with debt and taxes. Forget the travel plans and file your taxes early before the April deadline. Then you will have your refund and can travel later.

z-leo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Leo, August 17th – September 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life that is associated with debt, taxes, and legacies. Tax planning is always stressful, especially when left to the last minute. The Big Cat is no exception, and past wisdom suggests the sooner tax planning is started this year, the better. Tax laws are constantly changing, so this can be the year to get tax advice from a seasoned but progressive financial advisor, especially with Mercury’s association with the eclipse. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with marriage and partnership. This can represent a difficult time for the Lion’s marriage or partnership. Long-standing relationships have been there before and are still standing strong, but a new relationship can experience trust issues, and it remains to be seen if it stands the test of time.

z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with relationship and marriage. To further complicate the matter, your planet Mercury’s association with the eclipse can create a very confusing time. All relationships eventually experience turbulence that tests the compatibility and maturity of the partners. This is a necessary time to gather information about your partner, but not to come to judgments too quickly. Later, when Mercury comes out of the shadows, there will be ample time to look back and come to clearer judgments.  Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with health and work/life balance. It is vital for Virgo not to burn the candle at both ends and upset the necessary balance that leads to success.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with health and work-life balance. Lovely Libra has been feeling the proverbial burning of a candle at both ends. Mercury’s association with the eclipse only lends to the confusion. Librans are very solicitous by nature to the needs of others, but do not let your concern of disappointing others play havoc with your time and health. Now is a time to gather new information to assist Libra in their self-care journey. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with creativity and progeny. If you slow down the burn, rest, and recoup your energy, your creativity will absolutely rebound. If you are a parent, make sure your children are getting all the help and support they need to be successful, but also understand the limits of what it means to be successful.

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with creativity and children. This eclipse can represent the challenges of breaking old routines and starting new and spontaneous activities to enrich your everyday routines. If you are a parent, check in with your progeny in these complicated times, as Mercury’s association with the eclipse can create financial and logistical challenges for progeny. Your planet, Mars, and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with home and family. If you live in an older home this may be the time when you realize repairs and significant updates are needed. This transit can represent a realistic period to thoroughly examine and detail what needs to be done, but the actual work should start later as the devil is always in the details, which invariably causes delays.

z-sag.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Sagittarius, December 16th – January 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with home and family. This time often brings a sense of restlessness to home and family and Mercury’s association with the eclipse can create conflicted feelings and confusion regarding your residence. If the Archer is feeling unsettled, this is the time to gather new information, but make decisions later, whether to stay or uproot. Once the Archer examines the causal roots of the current dissatisfaction, there is more likelihood of success and satisfaction in moving. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with siblings and the arts. Long-standing resentments can come to a head under this complex planetary energy, so be careful what you say and what you do with siblings and comrades. The Archer has the right to remain silent, but whether they have the ability is the question.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with the fine arts and siblings. Challenges with siblings can present themselves during this time that may need creative solutions, as Mercury’s association with the eclipse can create confusion in successful outcomes. The sure-footed Goat needs to add a few new songs to their playlist instead of constantly playing the tried-and-true troupe “Staying Alive.” Mars and your planet Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with food and finance. The Sure-Footed Goat is hard-working as he slowly and inexorably rises to the top. Along the way Capricorn needs to stop and take in the view and appreciate how high they have climbed. To fuel the upward ascent, the Goat will need a proper diet and lots of money. In God we trust, but everyone else pays cash - so it should be added to the playlist.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life associated with food and finance. This eclipse can trend to be a stressful time for finances, so it is time for the Water Bearer to examine their spending habits. The same applies to food, as the diet issue here is quality, not quantity. Mercury’s association with the eclipse can lead to a confusing cascade of consequences regarding bad dietary and spending habits that are not in Aquarius's best interest. The Water Bearer would be wise to gather new information to change the current trajectory. Mars and your planet, Saturn, are in the domain of life associated with you.  Saturn types can, at times, be overly self-critical but also self-reflecting. Be wary of the path of self-pity during this time. The path of self-awareness and introspection are Saturn’s positive qualities. That is the road best traveled.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the total solar eclipse of April 8th in Pisces is in the domain of life that is associated with you. This can represent a stressful time for the Fish, especially with Mercury’s association with the eclipse, leading to feeling overwhelmed and confused and the proverbial Fish out of water syndrome. This is a time for the Fish to gather new information, especially new information that can lead to positive changes and increased self-esteem. After all, is the Fish’s proverbial water glass half empty or half full? It all depends on one’s point of view. Now is the time to focus on the half-full glass for the fabulous Fish. Mars and Saturn are transiting the domain of life associated with rest, repose, and expenses. Pisces may prefer to bask and rest in the tide pools during this challenging time to swim vigorously upstream another day.

Star Trends January & February 2024 Forecast

As we exit 2023 and enter January of 2024, we look back on another record-breaking year of global warming. The warming of streams, rivers, and large bodies of water, from lakes to oceans, is consequential for all forms of life, from aquatic to humans.

2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the passing of marine biologist, conservationist, and influential author- Rachel Carson. She is noted for her sea trilogy of best-sellers: Under the Sea Wind, The Sea Around US, and The Edge of Sea published in the fifties. However, she is most revered and famous for her environmental classic - Silent Spring, released in 1962, which brought unprecedented public awareness and a national spotlight regarding the use of pesticides two years before her passing. Although vehemently opposed by the chemical industry and its scientists, Silent Spring was embraced by conservationist movements, and her book was influential and instrumental in bringing about a nationwide ban on certain pesticides. The increased public awareness fueled the nascent environmental movement that would eventually lead to the creation of the US Environmental Protection Agency. She was awarded the US's highest Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, posthumously in 1980 by President Jimmy Carter.

Rachel Carson was born on May 27th, 1907. The water constellation of Pisces is rising; the symbol being the Fish, indicative of the sea. Her natal Moon is in the water constellation of Scorpio - representing the mysteries of the still waters that run deep. Lastly, the outlier and rebellious storm planet Rahu resides in the water constellation of Cancer. After all, in her time, Rachel Carson was seen as an outlier and anti-establishment figure after the publication of Silent Spring.

Today her name is associated with educational grants and awards at the highest levels of academic and environmental institutions and achievements. Perhaps the highest level of recognition is reserved for the headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency, The William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building. Her namesake is the Rachel Carson room on the third floor of this building. Her room is where the most significant EPA announcements and achievements are revealed to the public.

Rachel-Carson.jpg

The growing oceanic storms have come sharply into focus since Rahu entered the constellation of Pisces late in the fall of 2023. For the second consecutive year, the Alaska Snow Crab season was canceled in the fall of last year as billions of Snow crabs disappeared from the Bering Sea. This was only the second time the season has ever been canceled. Researchers believe the causal culprit is increasing ocean temperature, which is associated with global warming. In addition, conflict over water rights due to droughts and flooding is now front and center in global consciousness. Oceanic trade and travel routes are under siege due to war, as well changing weather patterns. Once again, it seems to be a time where we have got ourselves into “hot water,” and we will need outliers like Rachel Carson to sound the alarm and raise public consciousness to provide solutions, not blame and denial.

Rahu and Ketu are the controversial storm planets of Vedic astrology. They are harbingers of storms and eclipses which tell us the times are a-changing. They represent non-traditional outliers and artisans. They will lead you to question your traditional beliefs and current circumstances, for what was tried and true in the recent past may no longer be tried and true now. The proverbial wind that was ever expected to be at your back may now be blowing you sideways. It is a time of change, and you will not hit your mark unless you adapt to the way things are changing.

Climate Protest

This is why Rahu and Ketu are agents of change. For most people change is a storm, as it upsets people’s routines and ingrained habits. It is pointless to proceed as we have in the past for we will not arrive at the same outcomes. Once we recognize this we can abandon our old ways and begin a fresh course. This is how Rahu and Ketu bring about innovation. This can only happen when you are change positive. If you still cling to the old ways you may take comfort in past traditions, but the world and your relevance will soon pass you by. Sooner, or later you must embrace the storm of change. For the intrepid sooner said is sooner done. The Star Trends forecast for each of the constellations at the end of this column will reveal where the agents of change, Rahu in Pisces and Ketu in Virgo, are influencing your chart.

January 2024

January starts off with Mercury, stationing direct, in the constellation of Scorpio. Mercury will remain in Scorpio only until the 7th when he will enter the constellation of Sagittarius for the rest of the month. Therein Mercury will be illuminated by the Sun, and agitated by Mars - both planets already transiting Sagittarius. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter who is now transiting Aries. Mars is in Jupiter’s sign of Sagittarius, and Jupiter is in Mars' sign of Aries, and they are both presenting in a powerful planetary exchange until the 4th of February when Mars leaves Sagittarius.

The planetary rulers of the fire constellations are very strong as we start this year. Fire produces heat and light so the year starts out with a bang. Mars will fuel the flames of conflict, so do not expect world peace anytime soon during these planetary influences. Rather, the flames of conflict will escalate, and they will fuel the imagination of all those who seek the glory of ambition. Peace may come later after the attrition of war becomes obvious and ambition has run its course, however we will have to wait for Mars to weaken for that to be a possibility.

Mercury represents trade, business, and commerce. Mercury’s association with the fire planets in the fire constellations will fire the imagination of new business endeavors. Mercury’s association with the Sun, Mars and Jupiter will trend positive for business at the start of the year. Mercury’s only issue will be his growing impatience in getting the ball rolling due to his association with Mars. Mercury and Mars are not friends, so be careful when Mercury and Mars exactly align on January 27th. Do not make irrational decisions in a state of irrational exuberance while Mercury is under the sway of a very hot Mars. Be deliberate and intentional in all you execute.

In addition, Mars in Sagittarius will cast his light on the storm planet Rahu exactly on the 27th and 28th of the month. This represents a volatile and stormy period of time. Sudden and unfavorable weather patterns can present themselves during this time, so make sure your travel plans include a plan B for sudden events. Travel insurance can buy peace of mind, but a plan B and C can save the day. Best to steer clear of those who are worked up and agitated and not bring up politics or religion in mixed company, or the state of the world economy for that matter! Mercury moves fast and will leave Sagittarius a few days later when he enters Capricorn, who is ruled by calm, cool, collected Saturn.

February 2024

Mercury will remain in Capricorn until the 19th of February. However, Mars will also enter Capricorn on the 5th of February. Mars is at his most powerful in Saturn’s constellation of Capricorn. Mars usually transits a constellation in a six-week period of time so he will remain in Capricorn until mid-March. Capricorn has the potential to direct Mars’ fiery energy to constructive endeavors. This can be a powerful period of time to bring into manifestation the affairs of the domain of life that Capricorn is associated with in your chart. Mars gains his greatest strength later in the constellation of Capricorn, so be focused, pertinent, and persistent in your chosen endeavors to reach your goal.

Venus and Mercury are best of friends, and Venus favors Mercury, as Venus enters the constellation of Capricorn on the 11th of the month. Here Venus will remain until the end of the month. Venus will also soften Mars, but cannot temper Mars - as Capricorn is Mars’ most powerful placement. Venus is a master of diplomacy and ceremony. Venus, coupled here with Mercury can bring strongly opinionated people to engage in negotiations that can favor both sides. With Mars being especially strong, it is always best to negotiate from a position of strength - the proverbial high ground of military tactics. Any successful negotiations between highly opinionated people must start with respect, which is the domain of the planet Saturn, the ruler of the constellation of Capricorn.

Mercury leaves Capricorn and enters Saturn’s constellation of Aquarius on the 20th of the month. Aquarius is Saturn’s air constellation. Many people mistake the symbol of the Water Bearer and believe Aquarius to be a water constellation. The waves that the Water Bearer is pouring forth are not water waves but air waves, indicative of thought waves representing the realm of human ideation. Saturn is now transiting his own constellation of Aquarius and welcomes Mercury to his domain later this month.

Here, in Aquarius, Saturn represents the Yogi/Yogini and is deep in philosophical thought about the human condition. No pie-in-the-sky escapist notions, Saturn in Aquarius will not stand for that, but rather tried and true humanistic philosophical teachings that will lift humanity out of the muck and mire of ignorance. The thought waves of the Water Bearer are pouring DOWN to humanity from the heavenly realm to reach and uplift people in the here and now. The higher reason is only relevant if it helps us in the here and now, not in the hereafter!

Personal Forecast for Each of the Constellations
z-aries.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aries, April 14th – May 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with rest and repose. This domain also represents the charitable and non-profit sector. Rahu is a great innovator and heralds a charitable time for the Ram. You can start by being charitable to yourself - by giving yourself a more balanced schedule. You do not have to be constantly on point and relentlessly productive. There is more to life than doing-ness. It is time for the Ram to embrace being-ness, which comes from self-reflection. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with your health and work-life balance. The Ram will only rebound once rested and restored in a positive work/life balance. Less is more for Aries.

z-taurus.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Taurus, May 15th – June 14th, or who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with friends and community. If you see yourself as an innovator, this is an excellent position for Rahu, as you will draw like-minded friends and associates to increase your circle of influence. However, if you are one of those traditional Bulls who will not embrace change, you may be in for a rough roller coaster ride during Rahu’s transit. Rahu favors the innovators so embrace a more progressive sangha. It is time to plow fresh fields for the Bull and make new friends. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with your creativity and progeny. The Bull is very domestic, and time spent with their children will renew the Bull’s creative spirit.

z-gemini.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Gemini, June 15th – July 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with career. This is an excellent position for Rahu if you are employed in an innovative and growing field. If not, many times this transit represents a time of reorganization in mobile Gemini’s career path. If your vocation seems too staid and stale perhaps it needs a refresh. This could be that time to look elsewhere, or choose a new vocational direction. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with home and family. If you do feel settled in your domesticity and home is not where you belong, Ketu’s transit can encourage a move. If you are also vocationally dissatisfied, do not be afraid to expand your career opportunities from a local to a national search for the right place and vocation.

z-cancer.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Cancer, July 16th – August 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with education and travel. This is an excellent position for Rahu to travel for educational purposes to new countries and new cultures to open your consciousness. No nostalgia for the past, as nothing remains the same with Rahu. This is an exciting transit for enrolling in new and innovative educational pursuits and new horizon fields. Always the innovator, Rahu is often ahead of the times. If your current educational curriculum is boring you to tears, perhaps now is the time for a change. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with the fine arts and comradery. If your old associates are the proverbial sticks in the mud and the Crab finds themselves frequently becoming crabby in their company, perhaps it is time to reach out and meet more exciting and progressive people which may take you outside your comfort zone, as that is always the price for expanding our horizons.

z-leo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Leo, August 17th – September 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life that is associated with debt, taxes, and legacies. No one wishes to pay more taxes, especially those overburdened by debt, and the Big Cat is no exception. Tax laws are always changing so this can be the year to get tax advice from a seasoned, progressive financial accountant. With the right advice you can keep more of your earnings and provide debt relief at the same time. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with finance and income. Perhaps it is time to examine your financial streams to see if they are leaving you feeling flush or flat? If you’re feeling flat now is the time to remediate the situation and begin a fresh start.

z-virgo.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Virgo, September 17th – October 16th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with relationship and marriage. All relationships eventually experience turbulence that tests the compatibility of the partners. If your current relationship is strong, it can navigate Rahu’s stormy waters and grow yet stronger, but if your relationship is fragile and riding low in the water, it may survive the storm. New relationships favor high attraction under Rahu’s influence but take time to develop deep emotional connection and trust. One can only learn to sail on stormy, not serene seas. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with you. This is an excellent transit for self-inquiry and self-reflection, as Ketu is an indicator of spiritual evolution. Ketu here strives for authenticity and simplicity in in self-expression.

z-libra.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Libra October 17th – November 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with health and work-life balance. Librans have been feeling the burn. If you have been burning the proverbial candle at both ends, this is the time to take a step back and reassess the burn rate. All work and no play will only lead to burnout. This transit heralds a time for Librans to move the scales from more work to more self-care to achieve better life balance. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with rest and repose. To right the scales, you need a good night’s sleep to do a good day’s work. This transit is excellent for vacations or retreats, which can help you to unwind and experience the deep repose and restoration that sleep brings. The world looks so much better after a good night’s rest.

z-scorpio.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Scorpio, November 16th – December 15th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting the constellation of Pisces, the domain of life associated with creativity and children. If life is getting you down - feeling dull and lethargic - this transit favors breaking up those old routines and adding some zest and adventure for Scorpio. Add something new and spontaneous to your everyday routines and watch the surge in creativity return. Rahu favors the arts, and the arts favor self-expression and innovation, not toeing the line. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with friends and community. Ketu favors innovative and alternative friends, as well as alternative communities. Ketu’s placement here can expand your social circle from the traditional to the non-traditional, indicating innovative, provocative, and unusual people who will definitely spice up your life.

z-sag.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Sagittarius, December 16th – January 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting Pisces, the domain of life associated with home and family. Rahu in this placement often brings a sense of restlessness to home and family. If you are feeling unsettled Rahu will favor you to examine the causal roots of your restlessness. This is necessary before uprooting and moving. Once the Archer examines the causal roots of the current dissatisfaction, there is more likelihood of success and satisfaction in moving. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with vocation and career. Ketu’s transit here often brings re-organizations and changes in the career path. Nothing stays the same so it is important for the Archer to be open and flexible in regards to their career trajectory.

z-capricorn.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Capricorn, January 14th – February 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting Pisces, the domain of life associated with the fine arts and comradery. Perhaps it is time for the sure footed Goat to add a few dance moves to their steady upward gate. You will not find a straight line out is nature so why should you lead a straight, predictable life? Produce your own artistic version of “Dancing with the Goats” and invite some new progressive people to each performance. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with education and travel. Ketu here favors non-traditional educational trajectories that question the status quo, with the reward of more existential satisfaction, not necessarily worldly accomplishment. Travel is more experienced as a pilgrimage or retreat.

z-aquarius.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Aquarius, February 14th – March 13th, or those of you who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, the storm planet Rahu is transiting Pisces, the domain of life associated with food and finance. This position of Rahu trends to be expensive, so it is time for the Water Bearer to examine their spending habits. The same applies to food, as the diet issue here is quality, not quantity. Bad spending and dietary habits have a cascade of consequences that are not in the best interest of Aquarius. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life associated with debt, taxes, and legacies. Tax deductible spending is favored over non-tax deductible spending, so now is the time to discuss these concerns with a financial strategist. Regardless of age, if you have not prepared a last testament, do so now. It will help to show you what you have, but more importantly, what you value.

z-pisces.jpg

For those born under the constellation of Pisces, March 14th – April 13th, or those who have their Vedic Moon or rising sign therein, Rahu is transiting Pisces, the domain of life that is associated with you. Pisces, the Fish can become restless under this transit, looking for new streams for self-exploration and expression. Rahu can enrich the Fish in this position, but be careful not to enrich to the point of becoming overwhelmed and confused, the proverbial Fish out of water. Certainly, explore new streams and the new experiences they bring, but also stay safe in well-traveled streams to bring balance to these new adventures. The other storm planet, Ketu in Virgo, is transiting the domain of life that is associated with relationship and partnership. Ketu here can bring non-traditional and unusual people into your sphere. If you are not looking for a traditional relationship, this can be an exciting transit. If you are looking to settle down, not so much. Catch and release is the theme for relationship for Pisces, but on occasion, you may find a keeper.

Star Trends November & December 2023 Forecast

As we enter November 2023, the tragic events of the terrorist attack on Israel and the global ramifications of the enveloping conflict in Israel and Gaza, as well as the war in Ukraine, are front and center in global consciousness. The heinous terrorist attack on Israel on October 8th, 2023, has been likened to the events of the infamous terrorist attack on America on September 11th, 2001. The ramifications of that event are still resounding today in the Middle East, even though US troops withdrew from Afghanistan at the end of August 2021, ending the twenty-year war.

What both events share from an astrological perspective is that they occurred during a Mars/Ketu planetary alignment. The horrific events of September 11th, 2001, transpired during a Mars/Ketu alignment in the constellation of Sagittarius, and the heinous events of October 8th, 2023, similarly transpired during a Mars/ Ketu alignment in the constellation of Libra. Both events were purposed and designed to inflict massive casualties upon civilian populations.

As in both Greco and Roman culture, Mars is also the god of war in Indian culture. Each of the planets has a caste or class in the Indian caste system known as Varna. Mars is of the Ksytriya caste, which is the warrior and leadership caste. It is they who are present in the ranks of the opposing armies at the battle of Kuruksetra – presented in the most famous and beloved Indian epic, the Bhagavad-Gita. The mighty Ksytriya Arjuna is present for this epic battle between the brothers of the Kura dynasty. Arjuna‘s Guru is none less than illustrious Lord Krishna. Under his direction, we witness Arjuna’s transformation into a mighty spiritual warrior guided by Krishna on the path of karma-marga, the path of right action in conflict.

Magnificent Mars’ highest expression represents the spiritual warrior, the protector of dharma. The protector of all those who follow the path of right-action in times of conflict and war. However, not all warriors are spiritual, or on the path of right action, or for that matter, as conscious and inquiring as Arjuna. All too often—might makes for right—as the lower expression of Malevolent Mars is to “cry havoc” and let loose the dogs of war engulfing all in the conflagration, oblivious of the consequences.

Richard Friederisk, CC BY-SA 2.0 <https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0>, via Wikimedia Commons

In the mythology of India, Mars is the younger son of Shiva. His older brother is Jupiter of the Brahmin or knowledgeable class. There are many wonderful stories detailing Jupiter’s fraternal relationship with Mars, emphasizing the power of knowledge in contrast to the power of conflict. Under the influence of the Brahmin caste, as represented by Jupiter, Mars is more likely to become the valorous spiritual warrior. However, in the company of outcastes, as represented by Rahu and Ketu, Mars is more likely to become malevolent. As Mars and the outcaste planet Ketu once again align, the world must witness the slings and arrows of the senseless slaughter unleashed by the callous hands of malevolent Mars. Only the intentional arrows of right action, released by the hands of Krishna’s bowman, Arjuna, can end the carnage.

Fortunately, for each rogue Martian, there are so many more righteous Martians, which is why the human species is not yet extinct. For each rogue Martian that starts a fire, there are several, and at times several hundred righteous firefighters who will extinguish the blaze before it spreads. The world witnessed their valor during and after America’s 9/11 in 2001. Again, the world is witnessing the stories of those firemen and firewomen in Israel’s 9/11 event, and in the escalating conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. The Ksytriyas are again gathering on the field of battle to lead and protect since time immemorial. You will know these magnificent Martians, by their quality, as their reputations will precede them on whatever field of battle they are arrayed.

When it comes to war, the fight must be to win peace. Only the path of right action makes sense of senseless acts of violence. Only right action will remediate these senseless acts. Mars at the top of his game is the protector of dharma. Mars will take the lead. Mars will spring into action to protect the casualties of violence and war. Witness Clara Barton, the founder of The American Red Cross, who was a battlefield nurse during the American Civil War. Shortly thereafter, she lobbied Congress in 1873 to form the American Red Cross. In 1882 her efforts came to fruition. She headed the organization as its first President for 22 years. She was a Mars/Ketu spiritual Warrior Queen with Mars and Ketu in the constellation of Leo—the sign of the King and Queen—who saw first-hand the casualties of war and chose the path of right action.

All of us have the Mars/Ketu planetary alignment in the constellation of Libra in our astrological charts until mid-November, as revealed in the forecast for each of the constellations. Purchase a copy of the Bhagavad-Gita, or Sun Tzu’s The Art of War. Explore the reruns of “Kung Fu,” the 70’ s television series of the spiritual warrior/ Shaolin Monk portrayed by David Carradine so that you can witness conflict and social justice through the eyes of a spiritual warrior. Take your place as a spiritual warrior, a firefighter on the path of right action. The world is once again on fire and we need heroes, firemen and firewomen, just like Clara Barton to lead the way.

November 2023

Mars and Ketu will remain together in the constellation of Libra until November 15th when Mars enters his own constellation of Scorpio. Conflict is in the air, so pick your battles carefully, or you can lose the peace during this time. Mercury is already transiting the constellation of Libra, and his alignment with Mars and Ketu will only speak to economic volatility in trade and commerce during this time. Mercury is an indicator of business. There always have been, and always will be, mercenaries who benefit financially from conflict as they find a way to profit handsomely while blaming others for lining their pockets. Mercury will leave Mars and the storm planet Ketu on the 5th of the month when he enters the constellation of Scorpio. However, Mars will enter his own sign of Scorpio on the 15th of the month, restarting the volatile economic pattern all over again.

In addition, Saturn will stop in the heavens moving forward on November 4th in his own constellation of Aquarius. When planets stop and station, either moving retrograde, they become very powerful as they move very, very slowly. Saturn will be at 6 degrees of Aquarius for all of November, and the faster-moving Mercury will exactly square Saturn on the 9th, trending more to a fear-based stop-and-go environment for business. Perhaps November will be the month when consumers cry uncle and finally stop spending, reflecting the Fed’s policy of raising interest rates to slow spending. Be careful not to make rash, impulsive decisions that may solve one problem, but inadvertently create other problems during this difficult time. Be prudent and wise, favoring the long- run as Mercury is better friends with Saturn than he is with Mars! Mercury does not leave the influences of both Mars and Saturn until he enters the constellation of Sagittarius on the 26th, where he will fare better in Jupiter’s constellation. Diwali, India’s religious and cultural holiday of light, starts on November 12th this year. Your important decisions should be made in the light.

As previously explained, Mars will enter his own constellation of Scorpio on the 15th of November. Mars will be under check by Saturn in Aquarius during this time. As you have heard me say many times—Mars wants what he wants yesterday but Saturn delivers tomorrow. If you are overly under the influence of Mars, patience will be a necessary and hard-won virtue. If you are under the influence of Saturn do not become paralyzed by the fear and uncertainty of this time. Deliberate action will be necessary to win the day. Both Mars and Saturn will be especially powerful this month, so make friends with the Saturn/Mars planetary combination. Deliberation, not gut response, is the message.

November ends as the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, leave Mars’s constellation of Aries and Venus’ constellation of Libra. Rahu enters the constellation of Pisces, and Ketu enters the constellation of Virgo on the 28th of the month. The importance of this transition cannot be overstated. Since Jupiter entered the constellation of Aries on April 21st of this year, his benefic light has been stinted by the presence of shadow planet Rahu, already transiting Aries. Now that what takes place in the shadow of Rahu has left Aries, we will witness the return of Jupiter’s brilliant light illuminating the constellation of Aries, and the domain of life Aries represents in your chart.

December 2023

December starts with both the natural malefic planets being extremely strong. Mighty Mars is transiting his own constellation of Scorpio until the 27th of the month. Saturn is transiting his own constellation of Aquarius very slowly all month. Caution and patience are the virtues that will carry you through this holiday season, as Saturn will always outlast and defeat feisty Mars in any battle that becomes a slog of attrition.

However, both the natural benefic planets will also be extremely strong this month. The auspicious holiday blessing is that Venus is transiting the constellation of Libra all month until the 24th of December. Venus is the lord of Libra, and this is an excellent time for planning social events, as peaceful seasonal gatherings of family, friends, and sangha always uplift the spirits in times of conflict. Venus is of the Brahmin caste and represents the arts. The arts, for most of humanity, are where heaven touches earth. Venus is the brightest planet in the night sky, even brighter—but not larger— than Jupiter. Jupiter, the other Brahmin, will be transiting opposite Venus for most of December. This is a time to witness the bright holiday lights, not the fearmongering of war. It makes no difference if it is a secular or sacred viewing—the lights are there to remind us that the enveloping darkness is not to be feared. It is ephemeral and passing—not eternal. The return of the light is an absolute fact, and all those lights in all those traditions are but a reminder not to lose your faith during the darkness.

Mercury will stop in the heavens and retrograde on December 13th. Please remember that not all Mercury retrogrades are difficult. The salient point is that when the messenger is changing direction in the heavens it is a time when we receive new information. Important decisions are best avoided the day before, of, and after Mercury stops in the heavens. That time is December 12th to the 14th, as our decisions may reflect old, outdated information during this time. The more difficult challenge of Mercury’s retrogression is when Mercury precisely aligns with malefic Mars on the 27th, just as Mars enters Sagittarius. Take a chill pill later this month, and don’t get caught up in the post-holiday and end-of-year seasonal rush.

Jupiter, free of the shadow planet Rahu, will be retrograding all month in the constellation of Aries. Retrograde planets are powerful as they are transiting close to the earth, and brighter than when direct. Mars enters the constellation of Sagittarius on the 27th. Mars will be in Jupiter’s constellation of Sagittarius, and Jupiter will be in Mars’ constellation of Aries, forming a powerful planetary exchange. Remember that Mars and Jupiter are brothers in Indian mythology. Jupiter is the older, wiser brother; Mars the younger, more powerful brother. Wisdom and power are brothers in arms. Strength without wisdom and wisdom with strength is the road to ruin. This year ends on this auspicious planetary exchange as we must find our spiritual brothers and sisters if we are to achieve anything of value on the path of right action. Mars will benefit from judicious Jupiter’s wisdom and Jupiter will benefit from majestic Mars’ strength to form an unbreakable brotherly/sisterly bond that will not be cowed or coerced on whatever field of battle we find ourselves engaged.
