Vedic Astrology Classes

Dennis teaches all of his classes and workshop in the time honored oral tradition of Shruti, which in Sanskrit means that which is heard. In this way there is a direct connection between the teacher and student. All classes and workshop are available through a platform of live interaction so that students can participate in a real time learning environment regardless of location nationally or internationally. Your instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is one of the foundational people who have brought the astrology of India to the West these past three decades. All classes and workshop are recognized toward CVA certification through the Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA), the oldest Vedic astrology organization in the West.

Your instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is one of the four foundational people who co-sponsored the International Symposiums on Vedic Astrology that brought the great teachers of Vedic Astrology to speak to live western audiences the last two decades. He continues that tradition each year by offering live phone conferencing classes in Vedic Astrology at the Northwest Institute of Vedic Sciences. Dennis is one of the founding members of the CVA. He is an approved teacher of the CVA and all classes and workshops count toward CVA certification.

The Ninth Bhava and Ninth Principle in Vedic Astrology

The Ninth Bhava is known as Bhaga Bhava, the house of fortune, Guru, leadership and spirituality. Of the nine planets, the ninth lord is considered to be the most auspicious of the planets for his ability on one hand to confer the great Raja Yogas for success and position, and on the other hand, the Dhana and Lakshmi Yogas for prosperity and wealth. Further, the ninth division, the Navamsa, is the most important of all the divisional charts as it determines which fruits of the chart are ready to mature and experienced. In addition to the ninth house, the ninth planetary lord, the ninth aspect, the ninth divisional chart must be thoroughly examined to determine the full fortune of grace and providence operative in the nativity. Join Dennis for this workshop and he will raise your chart interpretation skills to the ninth degree.

Embracing the Dragon: Rahu and Ketu

The nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, are depicted as dragons and serpents in the astrology of both the east and the west. The symbol of the nodes is found on the back of the head of the king of snakes; the cobra. The serpent and dragon mythology of all eastern and western creation myths liken the serpents and dragons appearance to times of archetypal struggle, as they are harbingers of storms and eclipses, representing the epic battle between the forces of light and darkness. Join Denis as he discusses their epic struggle through eastern and western mythology and how and where this epic struggle is represented in your chart, as you must ultimately vanquish your own demons, before you can assist others in their struggle to the light.

The Summer Eclipses of 2018

This workshop will delve deeply into the nature of the planets that cause eclipses, the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu. Eclipses occur bi-annually, usually in a series of two eclipses six months apart. But, there are special occasions that feature three, rather than the usual two eclipses. Such is the summer of 2018, as July and August will feature a series of three eclipses: a solar and lunar in July, and a concluding solar in August- so be prepared for a more intense experience than usual. They are harbingers of dramatic shifts and sudden changes in our personal and collective perspective. Join Dennis as we take a journey into the shadows and explore the summer eclipses of 2018. We discuss them collectively, but most importantly where they fall for each of the constellational signs.
