Dennis teaches all of his classes and workshop in the time honored oral tradition of Shruti, which in Sanskrit means that which is heard. In this way there is a direct connection between the teacher and student. All classes and workshop are available through a platform of live interaction so that students can participate in a real time learning environment regardless of location nationally or internationally. Your instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is one of the foundational people who have brought the astrology of India to the West these past three decades. All classes and workshop are recognized toward CVA certification through the Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA), the oldest Vedic astrology organization in the West.

Your instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is one of the four foundational people who co-sponsored the International Symposiums on Vedic Astrology that brought the great teachers of Vedic Astrology to speak to live western audiences the last two decades. He continues that tradition each year by offering live phone conferencing classes in Vedic Astrology at the Northwest Institute of Vedic Sciences. Dennis is one of the founding members of the CVA. Saturn’s Sadi Sati and the US Presidency of Donald Trump

Many astrologers measure the maturity of the self when Saturn returns to his natal constellation every 29 to 30 years in your chart. Vedic astrologers measure the maturity of the self by the cycle of Saturn's Sadi Sati. This term refers to the 7-1/2 years cycle it takes Saturn to completely transit both sides the natal Moon. In Vedic astrology the Moon becomes the focus of Saturn's transit as the Moon represents the foundation of self-awareness that starts with our familial responsibilities and culminates with our responsibilities in the world.

Saturn is the planet of Uttara Ayana; the Winter Solstice, the darkest time of the year. Symbolically Saturn's transit over the natal Moon represents a time of enveloping darkness where we begin to view existence in a less favorable light. This time often represents the proverbial dark night of the soul, the deepening existential crises that comes with our sense of growing older and the growing responsibilities that come with the ageing process in face of our finite self.

Yet there is profound spiritual side to Saturn's Sadi Sati, as if is often during the darkest times that the contrasting light is brightest. Saturn shows us the finite self in contrast to the harsh realities of life. He is called the "Lord of Truth", and it is his great work to show us the timeless truths in a timely manner.
If you are prepared to awaken to the truth, Saturn will help you seize what is true and renounce what is false before it is too late, for paradoxically darkness illuminate the truth. The principles of the Sadi Sati will be illuminated through the chart of the oldest elected US President, Donald Trump, who will begin his first term in the heart of Saturn's Sadi Sati!

The Stories of the Planets

Each of the nine traditional planets of Vedic astrology has an extensive mythology which is critical to understanding and interpreting the grahas. The stories, parables and tales of the planets are invaluable tool in comprehending their nature. Each of the grahas stories imbue them with human qualities so through anthropomorphism we can thoroughly understand how the planets operate on the human plane and in the affairs of men and woman. Understanding the behavior of the planets through their stories is the gateway to understanding the human condition. Dennis will share and illuminate the many stories of the grahas in this exciting class.

The 2017 Venus/Jupiter Alignment

All the Light We Must See

The planets that reflect that spectrum of white light in the night sky are considered beneficial in all forms of astrology. Those principal planets are Jupiter and Venus. In Vedic astrology they are considered to be of the Brahman class, representing educated and refined people. While Jupiter is by far the brightest planet in the heavens, there are times when Venus exceeds Jupiter in brightness and that is the time when Venus comes to perigee, his closest approach to the earth. We always want to observe where Venus is becoming his brightest for he will grace the constellation of his perigee for a four-month period of time! This will be the case when Venus comes to the constellation of Pisces on January 27th where he will remain until the end of May 2016. Further, while Venus is in Jupiter's constellation of Pisces, Jupiter will be in alignment with Venus in the opposite constellation of Virgo where they will remain in complete planetary connection until Venus leaves Jupiter's domain in late spring.

Dennis will explain in detail this confluence of light along the Pisces/Virgo axis and how and when it will light up the domains of life where it occurs in your natal chart. Join Dennis as he expounds upon all the light we must see during this 2017 festival of light.
